June In Hindsight: Bookish Conquests and Other Things

*Checks calendar in disbelief*

Um, you guys,

June is already over. Can you believe it? I’m surprised how quickly this month went by, and plenty has happened in just 30 short days.

As a quick refresher, every month I’ll be looking back over my experiences with books, tv, movies, etc as well as some short tidbits about my personal life.

Alright, let’s get this train moving!

Like May, June has been something of a big month for me. I settled into my new apartment, finished the rough draft of my first act to my Reaper sequel, and even got a blog tour started with R&R Book Tours.

There’s still plenty of time to sign up, so definitely check it out if you’d like to review my debut book for free!

Bookish Conquests

This month I’ve been juggling a little bit more with my personal life, so I only read four books. Still super proud of myself!

So which ones my fave?

This one’s a toughie, but I’ll have to go with Sovereign by April Daniels.

There’s something amazing about April Daniels’s writing that I’m simply addicted to. She could write about paint drying on a wall and still make it a journey to remember. If you’d like to check out my full review of this book, click here.

Honorable mention goes to Randall Krzak’s Dangerous Alliance.

This continuation of his Bedlam series had the chills and the thrills, and I’m excited to check out his third book sometime next month.

Series Conquests

June was really interesting for TV.

I kind of skipped around as far as genres went, but ultimately my favorites were Pose and Outlander.

Both series were well executed and its obvious that a lot of thought and care went into the productions of these shows.

You can check out my Pose review here and my Outlander review here.

While Black Mirror’s new season as a whole didn’t quite meet the mark for me, a special honorable mention goes to the third episode “Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too.”

I absolutely loved this episode of Black Mirror! This episode has caused something of a storm on Youtube, and it’s definitely understandable. I mean, check out the song! It was released just two weeks ago and nearly has 10 million views. I think that says something. Also, I’ve watched the video maybe 50 times (yes I’m guilty, so sue me!).

Movie Conquests

This month was also pretty exciting for movies.

Hands down, the best one was I Am Mother.

This movie haunted me days after I watched it. It had chills and thrills that seriously shook me, and its hard to get a rise out of me. I saw an article further explaining it and my mind was totally blown! So far, I have to say this is my favorite movie of the year!

Phew!

So that was June for me. How was your month? Did you read or see something in my conquests? Do you have any recommendations for books, tv, or movies? As always, feel free to comment!

Happy Reading and Watching, everyone!

    • Asking because I’ve never really known anyone who loves books as much as I do. But, when I read your blog I feel like you like books a lot more than I do. I just love wandering into the bookstore and reading. There’s a second hand bookstore in this city that I’m living and I just like walking in there for the smell.

Okay, I’m rambling now, I’ll stop. haha

      • I really do love reading. It’s on and off my favorite thing to do. I’m also an author, so that attributes to the why as well.

Omg I live for Half Price Books. I always leave with like 5-10 books, and that’s controlling myself, haha!

    • Oh yeah, they are so great! I only wish I could read more of them in a row, but alas, I have to keep things fresh.

Yeah, there is definitely something about April Daniels’s work that I just love.

  1. Congrats on your new apartment! That’s exciting.. minus the unpacking 😜. You definitely got more reading and TV time accomplished than I did. Lol. But my best read so far was Miracle Creek by Angie Kim. It took me two weeks of binge watching season 5-8 for Game of Thrones, which I finished mid June. I’ll be starting Stranger Things season 3 once it airs in a few days! Yay!
