WWW Wednesday

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

Hope you’re having a nice short workweek. The weekend is almost here again!

All right, so every Wednesday I do a meme called WWW Wednesday if you’re not familiar.

This meme is a challenge where you simply share what you’re reading, what you’ve recently finished, and what you hope to read in the near future.

www

The meme is currently handled by Taking On A World of Words, and anybody can participate.

Simply read the 3 W questions below and answer them should you want to:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

From the internationally bestselling authors of THE ILLUMINAE FILES comes an epic new science fiction adventure.

The year is 2380, and the graduating cadets of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil Tyler Jones is ready to recruit the squad of his dreams, but his own boneheaded heroism sees him stuck with the dregs nobody else in the Academy would touch…

A cocky diplomat with a black belt in sarcasm
A sociopath scientist with a fondness for shooting her bunkmates
A smart-ass techwiz with the galaxy’s biggest chip on his shoulder
An alien warrior with anger management issues
A tomboy pilot who’s totally not into him, in case you were wondering

And Ty’s squad isn’t even his biggest problem—that’d be Aurora Jie-Lin O’Malley, the girl he’s just rescued from interdimensional space. Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler’s squad of losers, discipline-cases and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.

They’re not the heroes we deserve. They’re just the ones we could find. Nobody panic.

Opinion so far:

I started off on the fence on this one. Call it bad timing maybe? Anywho, I got past that and am really enjoying the adventure here.

Planet Tage is dying, and the best hope of saving it is gone.

Seventeen-year-old identical twins Evan and Simon share an extraordinary bond, a trait that’s both useful and invasive. They use their connection in their work at Scientific Innovations. Evan is a Mindbender, someone who enters the minds of scientists to spark ideas, join thoughts, and battle nightmares. Simon is a science prodigy and Tage’s best chance of survival.

Unfortunately, their unusual link often bleeds into their private lives. When Evan discovers his brother is keeping a secret from him, he lashes out and ignores requests to talk, and even pleas for help. By the time Evan tunes back in, he finds their connection severed and Simon missing.

He suffers a terrible case of survivor’s guilt. Moreover, he’s desperate. The fate of the world rests on Simon’s return, and Evan is willing to do anything to get him back—even working with his greatest rival, who also happens to be Simon’s boyfriend.

Evan finds allies among enemies and adversaries among friends. When nothing is as it seems and everything is depending on him, he must explore a dangerous aspect to his twin connection he never knew he had.

If he fails, he’ll lose both his brother and his world.

My Opinion:

I absolutely loved this book! Definitely my top sci fi read for this year! Even if you haven’t read sci fi, I still highly recommend trying this one. Chills, thrills, and more in spades!

Next on my TBR:

So, you’re probably wondering what happened with Sorcery of Thorns on my TBR.

Well, when I started reading Aurora Rising, I realized just how little time I have before I start my Festival of Frights, and how much I could actually use a breather.

So I decided that for now I’ll have to return the book to the library and read it some other time.

In the meantime, I’ll read some much needed Animorphs for some light fun before diving into some spooky reads on 9/16/19.

I’ve got a lot going on recently, and I need to stop pushing myself so much, so this is just what I have to do right now. Realizing my limits has never been easy, but it’s definitely something I need to pay more attention to in the future.

I’ll share my Halloween reads with you soon, I promise!

That’s a Wrap!

Okay folks, that’s my WWW Wednesday for this week.
