September In Hindsight: Bookish Conquests and Other Things
Hello Fall Lovers,
Can you believe that September is already over this year? Talk about crazy! Here in Kansas City it’s still pretty warm, so I’m hoping that October will cool things down, both weather-wise and as far as my life goes.
This past month has been really good and also stressful for me at the same time.
On a positive note, I paid off my credit card debt and now only have my enormous student loans to pay back. Hooray for progress! Thanks to paying that off, the past few paychecks I’ve been able to unwind and quit worrying quite as much as I have been about finances this summer. I’ve been working on paying off all my debts for seven years, and it’s finally starting to show. Time to spoil myself a little bit for all my hard work!
Work has been stressing me out over the past month due to developments I can’t really speak about, and I feel like I have mental whiplash from the experience. Although I’m not enjoying it at the moment, I know that change is coming and that I’ve survived much worse than this, so I’m staying hopeful and positive at this point.
Writing for September has been a little touch and go as well. While I’m writing at least five days a week, I feel a little burned out from time to time, but I’m not allowing myself to stop writing, and it turns out that it’s a good thing I didn’t.
I managed to write 8,500 words (about 34 pages worth) in September, which is Chapter 9, 10, and some of 11 in my Reaper Sequel (still about halfway through Chapter 11 at the moment).
Honestly I didn’t think I’d written that much until I looked it over just now, and I’m super proud of myself. I think the most I’ve ever written before is around 10,000 in a month, so these are very strong numbers for me.
That being said, there’s still quite a lot more to write before I’ll be finished with my second act in the Reaper sequel. I’m almost done with the first three chapters, but I still have ten more chapters to write, so I’m not sure how long that’s going to take me. Maybe I’ll get done by end of November or early December? That’s what I’m hoping for at least.
Wish me luck!
On the bookish side of things this month, I didn’t really read as many books as usual, mainly due to my stress levels and how much I’ve been writing.
Still, I enjoyed all of the books I read this month and I’m really happy about that.
My average rating this month out of the three books I read was 4.67, very high!
So which one was my favorite?
Well, that’s easy! It’s No Good Men by Thea McAlistair.
This debut novel really set itself apart, and though whodunit mysteries usually isn’t my go-to, the characters, plot, and overall aesthetic really spoke to me. It’s no wonder I gave this one 5 out of 5 stars!

Movie & Series Conquests
On the watching side of things, I watched a bunch of movies and one series this month. I honestly wanted to spend more time on series I’m interested in, but I’ve been a bit busy.
Out of all the movies I watched, I’d probably have to say that Book Club was my favorite, as it was a breath of fresh air and was an easy watch, something I think we don’t get enough of these days.

Obviously, my favorite series of the month is The Dark Crystal on Netflix, but I really did love this way more than I ever loved the original. Definitely worth a try!

That’s a Wrap!
All right, there goes the month of September. How was your month? Did you read or see something in my conquests? Do you have any recommendations for books, tv, or movies? As always, feel free to comment!
Happy Reading and Watching, everyone!
