Jaunts & Haunts: Top 5 Scary Movies of All Time
Good Morning Horror Heads and Scream Queens,
Due to there being no current change in my reading projects, I figured I’d break the mold a little bit today instead of posting for WWW Wednesday.
For today’s post, it’s all about your favorite scary movies. Many of us who love horror simply have to rewatch some of our favorites each year, and that’s definitely true for me.
So which horror movies have stuck with you through the years? Are there ones that still shake you to your core?
I have a ton of favorites, but I’ll keep it to my top 5 go-tos today.
Pick #1: The Woman In Black (2012)
There’s something about this film that truly terrifies me and shakes me to the core. This movie has a great slow build up with minor snippits of the woman in black (each time I see her it sends a tingle down my spine) from scene to scene before things really get crazy.
And that creepy house the MC is staying in? Oh hell no, I would never stay there!
To this day, I still cover my eyes with my hands in certain scenes, and I doubt that will ever change. This movie is terrifying down to the core.
Pick #2: The Descent (2005)
What happens when a group of friends explore an uncharted system of caves? I’ll tell you what. A freaking nightmare!
This movie will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time, and is sure to make you jump and squeal in terror as this group of friends fight for their lives.
Pick #3: 28 Days Later
When a UK-based virus infects thousands, even millions with a zombie-like malady, a man who just woke up in a hospital must make sense of what’s going on while fighting for survival.
This movie I must’ve seen at least 20-30 times, and it never gets old. I especially love the alternate endings!
Pick #4: Halloween
Every year I make a point to see this movie as well as the second. This violent slasher is a classic, and is always extremely entertaining.
I especially love all of the “No, behind you!” moments.
Will Michael Myers ever die?
Pick #5: Diary of the Dead
This underrated zombie flick is actually my favorite thus far. Although I haven’t always been the biggest fan of documentary-style film, this one tops the cake.
Zombies, adventure, and survival, what’s not to love?
That’s A Wrap!
Well that’s it for my top 5 favorite horror movies. How about you? What scary movies stick with you time and time again?
Got any horror recommendations for me? Feel free to share in the comments, and happy haunting, people!

I saw Train to Busan and The Third Eye recently, both good movies if you don’t mind subtitles.
OMG I totally forgot that I wanted to see Train to Busan! Thanks for the reminder! The Third Eye looks good too! Are both on Netflix by chance?
Ok Justin, if you have Netflix, it is ABSOLUTELY necessary that you have the flick, As Above So Below shipped to you. Thank me later mister!
Oh okay, recommendation taken! I’m looking this one up!
Diary of the Dead looks interesting, as I’m a fan of the zombie genre!
Ooo, you should try it! It’s my favorite of Romero’s.
We don’t share a lot of the same fave horror movies but Halloween and the Descent are amazing!
What are some of yours not on the list out of curiosity? I’m dying to know!
Yeah, the Descent is still pretty scary no matter how many times I watch it. Caves will never be the same
You chose The Descent….I prefer As Above So Below, where the main characters are in the catacombs beneath Paris? Oh my goodness, this is absolutely one of the most horrifying and claustrophobic movies I have seen. And there’s actually a twist to it! Its so good!
You’re actually the second person to recommend that movie, so I’ll definitely watch it soon. 🙂
Yeah, The Descent always scares me no matter how many times I watch it. *shivers*
