Series Review – American Horror Story: Apocalypse *Light Spoilers* (Netflix)

Hey There Horror Lovers,

Are you ready for another great series recommendation? I hope so, because today we’re taking a look at AHS Season 8: Apocalypse.

I’ve been waiting for this season to come out for what feels like forever on Netflix (I no longer have cable), so when I saw it randomly on Netflix the other day, I jumped on this. It ended up taking me three days to blast through this season, and it was just as addictive as my other favorite seasons were.

All right, let’s get into it!

Series Blurb (Please Forgive the Generic Description from IMDB):

Both physical and psychological horrors affect a decomposing family, workers and residents of an insane asylum, a coven of witches, a cast of circus freaks, the employees and guests at a struggling hotel, a family who moved into a mysterious farmhouse, the members of a small suburb in Michigan, the surviving members of the Apocalypse and the counselors of a creepy summer camp in this haunting anthology series, focusing on the themes of infidelity, sanity, oppression, discrimination, addiction, and exploitation.

My Review:

All right, so first things first, the spoiler. I know, I know. I’m very anti-spoiler, but I can’t avoid it this time.

This season of AHS is a cross between MurderHouse (Season 1) and Coven (Season 3).

That’s it for spoilers. See, it wasn’t that bad, was it?

So from the get go, this season went from 0 to 100 very quickly.

It’s the end of the world, ahhh!

The general premise is that the end of the world came about from the son of Satan, and that the general goal of this season will be to have him destroyed to save the world somehow, though how the world can be saved when it’s already ending is really the big mystery.

From there, things get very interesting with many plot twists and turns that I didn’t see coming.

I especially loved the fact that my girls from Coven made an entrance (guilty, I never saw season one). I think there was a squeal factor, that’s how much I loved Coven.

I think that the characters from MurderHouse and Coven were fully fleshed out to their true potential, and that both storylines were given a satisfying conclusion for all former fans.

Murder, secrets, and thrills abound in this season of AHS, and I was glued, finishing it in three days! Can’t recommend this season enough!

I give this season of AHS a 9/10.

  1. This was one of my favorite seasons! I love how they included other seasons (murder house and the witches!), and the actor who played Michael did an outstanding job. He’s also in the new season.

    • Me too! Coven was my favorite, and the fact that they made an appearance again blew my mind and propelled me forward.

Can’t wait for the next season!
