Weekly Progress Update!

Good Morning Everyone!

How is your pre-Halloween week going? Good I hope!

The theme for my week has been… insanity if I’m being honest. On a personal level, things were going well at the beginning of the week only to completely unravel from Thursday through today.

Everyone else on my team at work was gone Thursday through Friday, so I put in some serious overtime that threw everything off the rails. Sometimes you just have to step up to the plate, and unfortunately everything else suffered as a result.

That aside, let’s take a look at all the good things that happened this week.

Books

On the bookish side of things, I finished the Siren and the Specter by Jonathan Janz and started reading The Institute by Stephen King.

The Siren and the Specter was great, nearly a perfect read in my opinion. Chills, thrills, and death abound in this haunted story. I definitely recommend it!

The Institute is going well so far also, though I have the sense that it may be a 4-star book for me. I’m about a third in, so who knows? Still plenty of time for redemption!

TV/Movies

On the watching side of things, this week was a little light. I watched Happy Death Day 2U.

Every once in a while I love a good slasher flick. This movie had the classic experience and much, much more. This was a great continuation of the first movie Happy Death Day, though I don’t personally see how they could make another movie.

Screams, kills, and morbid laughs make this movie a must-see in my opinion.

My Writing

On the writing side of things, I’m kind of going to gloss over things a bit, as my goals were not met this week due to work stuff and all the OT I put in.

That being said, I have a special announcement to make. November 10th through the 13th I’ll be taking my first writer’s retreat, so I am super ready to get out of Kansas City and get some serious writing done.

I’ll give some more details in a future post, but it’ll be nice to just concentrate on my writing for once.

Speaking of my writing, Halloween is less than a week away, the perfect time to check out my debut novella Reaper.

It’s Halloween-themed and explores just what happens when you check out that creepy  basement you’re always scared of. Dare you find out for yourself?

Feel free to check it out here if you’re interested.

That’s a Wrap!

All right, so that was it for my week. How did yours go? Did you do well on your writing and reading projects? Anything interesting you’d like to share?

Do you have any great recommendations in TV, movies, or books? Feel free to share in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by everyone, and Happy Sunday!

    • Thanks friend! It’s only a brief retreat, but one that I think is much needed. I’ll definitely be prepping for the next week or so to set myself up for success!
