Weekly Progress Update!

Happy Sunday Bloggers and Bookworms,

Brr, it is seriously cold in Kansas City right now! We had rain that turn to freezing rain on Friday and froze, then a huge round of snow on top of that on Saturday.

It’s a winter wonderland!

wonderland

Just kidding, it’s more like this

frostbite

I swear, my feet haven’t left my slippers all weekend except to sleep (who can sleep with slippers on? That’s just madness!)

Anywho, the weather aside, this week has been pretty great if I may say so.

I put in very little OT at work, probably as little as I’ve had in the past two months. It’s all part of testing how much I can handle in my 35-hour workweek, but unfortunately I will need to put in more OT next week. I’m simply not there yet.

But that’s just my boring dayjob.

Let’s get into all the fun things Jaunts & Haunts for the week, shall we?

Books

I had a really good week as far as books go. I read The Dysasters by P.C. Cast, Eyes I Dare Not Meet In Dreams by Sunny Moraine, Animorphs #18, The Decision by K.A. Applegate, and just started reading Artificial Condition by Martha Wells.

While I didn’t necessarily enjoy The Dysasters as much as I’d hoped, the short story by Sunny Moraine and Animorphs were great!

I am just beginning Artificial Condition, and am already about a third of the way through. Though it’s been a slow start, I am still loving this one as much as I did All Systems Red.

Anywho, feel free to check out my links for the three stories I read this week if you’re interested.

TV/Movies

As far as watching things, this week was pretty eventful too. I finally got the time to share my opinion of Watchmen and His Dark Materials, both on HBO.

Watchmen was a lot of fun. You’ll definitely like it if you liked the movie.

His Dark Materials I had a lot of issues with, but based on my comments across the social media spectrum, I’m one of the few that didn’t enjoy it. Whatever, I stand by my opinion that it was a crappy season.

Either way, feel free to check them out on HBO or look at my review if you want my general opinion.

My Writing

I’ve been very productive with my writing this week, working on it every day, even this morning.

As I said last week, I am back in my plotting phase for the remainder of the second act. That means I won’t be switching back to writing until I am done fleshing out the last four chapters.

I hit the plotting hard this week and ended up plotting two and a half chapters! Based on how I have things divided up at the moment (I cut the first chapter into two shorter chapters), I should have about two chapters to plot after the one I’m on now (Chapter 25), then it’s time to write everything out and get starting on the third act and epilogue!

Things are going really well, and I am super happy with my progress!

That’s a Wrap!

All right, so that was it for my week. How did yours go? Did you do well on your writing and reading projects? Anything interesting you’d like to share?

Do you have any great recommendations in TV, movies, or books? Feel free to share in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by everyone, and Happy Sunday!

  1. I saw Anon on Netflix. It’s a futuristic murder mystery. I loved the concept, and it’s ALMOST brilliant, good acting, but, alas, it drags. Still, it’s not a bad movie if you’re just chillin’.:-)
