Movie Review – It Chapter Two

itchaptertwo

Series Blurb:

Twenty-seven years after their first encounter with the terrifying Pennywise, the Losers Club have grown up and moved away, until a devastating phone call brings them back.

My Review:

Characters

four-and-a-half-star-rating-md

Great, fleshed-out characters, all who have developed in intriguing ways since their last battle with It in Derry 27 years ago.

Plot

four-and-a-half-star-rating-md

Seemingly straight to the point at first, then happily more complex. Not perfect execution, but quite the rollercoaster ride.

Flow

For the most part, a seamless adventure. There are flashbacks present that I believe should’ve just been in the first movie instead of interrupting the flow of this one.

Overall Impression

Okay, no throwing of tomatoes please! I was way overdue for seeing this movie, and when I saw it available on GooglePlay I freaked and immediately started watching it.

This movie was a great ending to the It story! The Losers Club is reunited after 27 long years after they first defeated It, only this time, they have come to destroy it for good.

While I admit that the scares and characters seemed more impactful in part one, there was a lot of great stuff here. The characters stayed true to their core, but had grown in interesting ways.

The plot was pretty similar, but that was a given and I do think the filmmakers kept everything fresh and simplified some things from the original version while complicating other aspects where they thought necessary.

The flashbacks were a little jarring for me here and there, but other than that, this film was amazing! I’ll definitely have to watch both parts in one day sometime.

Final Score

8/10
