Movie Review – Doctor Sleep

drsleep

Movie Blurb:

Years following the events of “The Shining,” a now-adult Dan Torrance must protect a young girl with similar powers from a cult known as The True Knot, who prey on children with powers to remain immortal.

My Review:

Characters

five-star-rating-md

I love Ewan McGregor. There, I said it. His portrayal of the grown up version of Dan Torrance was perfect, and the other characters portrayed were flawless, with a surprisingly haunting Rose the Hat played by Rebecca Ferguson.

Plot

The plot stuck very closely to the book with few exceptions. This is a great example of how amazing a movie adaptation can be.

Flow

Flow was exceptional. No pointless subplots or annoying lapses in judgment here!

Overall Impression

Truth be told, I forgot about this movie for a while. I don’t really go to the movies much anymore, so when my roomie came home and said she wanted to watch a movie, we both freaked when we saw this was available.

Needless to say, I absolutely loved this movie and plan on purchasing it sometime in the future. I’m a HUGE fan of Ewan McGregor, and all the other characters played their part so naturally it was easy to watch along with the story.

The plot was engaging and kept me hooked with the high stakes involved. I also loved the fact that they didn’t stray far from the book at all. Overall, a perfect watching experience. Might we get a remake of the original?

Final Score

10/10
