Movie Review – The Invention of Lying (Netflix)
Movie Blurb:
A comedy set in a world where no one has ever lied, until a writer seizes the opportunity for personal gain.
My Review:
Characters
Somewhat basic characters, but intriguing and entertaining.
Plot
Not the most entertaining plot from a bird’s eye view, but this one really grew on me. The more I watched, the more I liked it.
Flow
Flow is pretty good. Seamless for the most part.
Overall Impression
Fun fact, I found this movie on Netflix and thought it was new. When I found out it came out in 2009, I had a “you coulda had a V8” moment.
The characters in this movie were simple, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of them. I’m not the biggest fan of Gervais or C.K., but I love Lowe, Garner, and Fey, so that worked out really well for me. I loved all the laughs in this movie.
Plot, like the characters, was simple, but again, entertaining. I liked this parallel universe where almost nobody could lie and thought it was a great unique concept.
In the end, I really enjoyed this one. Definitely worth a watch!
Final Score
7/10

The hubster and I watched this one and both enjoyed it. We laughed so hard at the truth-history shows for entertainment and the first date realisms.
Oh for sure! The level of bluntness was hilarious especially with Garner and Fey and Lowe. Yikes!
I caught the end credits of this the other day and thought I must watch it. Want to see it even more now. Looks like fun.
Yeah, it’s definitely something you can watch and just relax. Very light
