Hello Bookworms!
Reading sure is fun, isn’t it? That is, until your avalanche of a TBR gets out of control.
I revised my TBR pile on GoodReads sometime mid-late 2019, and since then it has yet again spiraled out of control. I guess it’s kind of like grass. If you don’t tend to it, you have an overgrown lawn and have to trim it again.
So in the past month or so, I’ve kept my eyes peeled on GoodReads for any reads I simply had to read with the intention of coming up with a list of sorts of things that I’d like to read for the remainder of the year.
Now, keep in mind that although I have been more rigid about my TBR and planning reads out in the past, that simply doesn’t work for me in the long run. If you’re not feeling a book, you simply aren’t feeling it and should move on to something else. There’s no problem with revisiting later, right?
I’d like to stress that I’ll be trying to focus on finishing what I started. What does that mean? Well, a lot of my picks are series, and if I enjoy them and start to read them, I will most likely focus on them until I read all of them before moving on to another series.
This won’t necessarily pan out the way I intend, but it stands to reason that if I read books of a series in order without moving on to something else, I’ll probably get more out of the overall experience. I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this, but I am now, and that’s what matters.
Anyways, enough blah blah, let’s get into some of my TBR picks!
Indie Authors
I’m starting with some of my Indie picks first, as they are the most important in my opinion. Some of these I’ve been putting off for quite some time, but no longer!
In no particular order, I’d like to read these books:
Heaven Sent (the rest of the series – I already purchased!) by Montre Bible
The Seers by Katherine Bennett (had on my Kindle for FOREVER, shame on me)
Magic or Die by J.P. Jackson
The Starlight Watchmaker by Lauren James
The Mourner’s Cradle by Tommy B. Smith
Demon Reaper by Adele T. Cawley
Buried by Sue Rovens
Many of these authors I’ve had interviews with, know personally, or simply feel the need to give their stuff a read, and many others aren’t listed here, but don’t worry, I have a plethora of indie authors to check out.
Middle Grade/YA
A couple weeks ago, I found a goldmine of Middle grade and YA books, most of them having a creepy theme. In the past, I haven’t read much middle grade, but if it’s spooky you better bet I’m all in! Here are some of my picks!

I’ve also had my eye out on some new releases this year that continue series I’ve loved, so I’m psyched for them to release so I can eat them up right away, nom nom nom!

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins (Hunger Games #0, release date 5/19/20)
Bridge of Souls by Victoria Schwab (Cassidy Blake #3, release date 9/1/20)
Everything Else
Last but not least, is everything else. There are TONS of series and standalones I’d like to start this year, so I’m anxious to find out what I end up being able to read with only so many hours in a day. Below are the series/standalones I am most excited about starting.
The Reckoners Series by Brandon Sanderson
The Darkest Minds Series by Alexandra Bracken
Chronicles of the One series by Nora Roberts
The Carrow Haunt by Darcy Coates (or anything by her at all. Tons of good word of mouth!)
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson (I picked this up earlier this year and didn’t have time to read)
To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers

Well, there are some of my hopeful reads for the remainder of the year. I think my list is pretty diverse, and I can’t wait to get started after my current read.
