WWW Wednesday

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

If you’re like me, you can’t wait until the end of the week.

I’m just looking forward to some non-work time. Like the past six months, I’ve been putting in a decent amount of OT, and I’m just not feeling any part of it since I keep ending up where I started or two steps back.

My Dance Central idea did pretty well yesterday, and I enjoyed getting to dance off my frustration when I needed to. I hope that in these dark times you find a way to destress yourself as well.

Anyways, back to the meat and potatoes of this post.

Every Wednesday I participate in a meme called WWW Wednesday.

This meme is a challenge where you simply share what you’re reading, what you’ve recently finished, and what you hope to read in the near future.

www

The meme is currently handled by Taking On A World of Words, and anybody can participate.

Simply read the 3 W questions below and answer them should you want to:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading:

thornhill

Blurb:

Parallel plotlines, one told in text and one in art, inform each other as a young girl unravels the mystery of a ghost next door.
Mary is an orphan at the Thornhill Institute for Children at the very moment that it’s closing down for good. But when a bully goes too far, Mary’s revenge will have a lasting effect on the bully, on Mary, and on Thornhill itself.

Years later, Ella moves to a new town where she has a perfect view of the dilapidated, abandoned Thornhill Institute. Determined to befriend the mysterious, evasive girl she sees there, Ella resolves to unravel Thornhill’s history and uncover its secrets.

Ella’s story is told through striking, bold art; Mary’s is told through diary entries. Each informs the other until the two eventually intersect to reveal the truth behind Thornhill’s shadowy past, once and for all. Strikingly told and masterfully illustrated, Pam Smy bends genres and expectations alike.

Opinion so far:

This is my second buddy read with Iseult Murphy!

I wasn’t going to start this one until this morning, but before bed I decided to start it and see how I felt. Well, I blazed through 30% and am really enjoying this. It’s so easy to read, and I’m desperate to know what happens to the MC!

Definitely keep your eyes peeled for me and Iseult’s review hopefully sometime this week!

Recently Finished:

My Opinion:

Busy, busy, I’ve been very busy in the past week. I definitely need to slow my reading roll so I don’t burn out and hinder my editing time with my Reaper sequel.

Heaven’s Ghost (books three and four) was entertaining, although I did have some issues with formatting and plot here and there.

The Scout: Dark Crossings was a fun short story with plenty of mystery with an alien theme.

My recent Animorphs read that I finished yesterday was great, although I wish that the plot had a much better conclusion.

Next on my TBR:

Opinion so far:

I’m really excited about my immediate TBR. While I can’t guarantee these are the next books I will read (I’m retaining my spontaneity), these are the most likely candidates. Clearly I’m showing favor with the indie works.

I’d really like to read The Mourner’s Cradle next. If I recall correctly, the author told me that this may be set in the same world/universe as Poisonous, and if that’s any indication of how much I’ll enjoy it, then I’m totally stoked!

I’d also like to finish out the last current book of Montre Bible’s Heaven Sent series. I’ve been binging them lately.

Lastly and most obviously, I am going to continue the Animorphs ride. Looks like Cassie’s up next. Don’t disappoint me Applegate/ghostwriter!

That’s a Wrap!

Okay folks, that’s my WWW Wednesday for this week.

What does your reading pile look like? Have you read any of the books on my list? Do you have any opinions or feedback on the books I chose? Feel free to share in the comments, and don’t forget to subscribe or follow my bookish journeys!

  1. Your “Dance Central” idea… I missed that one. But, I love it! 🤣 I pulled out all of my rhythm games… I never thought of my DANCE games! Good call.
I also LOVE that you’re reading Animorphs… I haven’t seen those in years!

    • Haha, I figured whatever makes me happy can’t hurt, right?

My favorite dance songs on those was Maneater and Bass Down Low and I’ve already done both several times lol.

Thanks, I love it so much. Definitely a series that stands the test of time.
