Weekly Progress Update!

Happy Sunday World!

I hope your week has been nice and productive in these uncertain times.

I myself have been working to the bone. Last week I worked six days and this week seven. In fact, after this post is completed, I’ll be going back to work, but you know, I’m really lucky so I’ll just stop right there. Just know that your pal Jonny is constantly stressed from all the working he’s doing and it’s taking away from reading and writing.

Anyways, let’s see what this week was all about and get some recommendations headed your way!

Books

This week was pretty good for books. I read two books and two short stories.

Animorphs #29 was surprisingly good, especially since Cassie’s other POV’s have been relatively weak in the past.

The Mourner’s Cradle was a solid horror read, and I can’t wait to see more from Tommy B. Smith in the future!

Scottish Alliance I didn’t enjoy like I hoped I would. I decided not to review it at this time, but I cannot recommend it. For that reason, I read the second short story right after.

Patient Zero was a stunning, flawless apocalyptic short story that tugged at my heartstrings. Definitely worth a read, and it’s free on Lightspeed Magazine.

Next up on my TBR will be Animorphs #29.5, Elfangor’s Secret (aka Megamorphs #3).

TV/Movies

I also had some stellar watches this week, The Room (Shudder) and Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.

The Room was a great thriller with some fantasy/scifi elements thrown in.

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse was a fast-paced action packed adventure, and I had a blast! Can’t wait for the sequel in 2022!

My Writing

On a writing level, this week didn’t quite go as planned. Reading through my first act one more time ended up taking me til Friday to finish, but I’m glad I did one final read through. I caught several small things and corrected some diction here and there. That being said, I am officially moving on and will not be going back until it’s time for my alpha read.

After work today I’ll get started on my edits for act two. Wish me luck!

Related to writing, specifically the marketing side, I’ve been very busy. I’ve signed up for Instagram, BookBub, BookSprout, and Book Goodies. I’ve been mostly active on BookSprout and BookBub, but I’ll definitely be doing future posts about the bookish sites and how they can help you market yourself.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for a good read consider checking out my debut novella Reaper: A Horror Novella.

If you’re like me, it’s never to early for Halloween, chills, or thrills, and it’s got plenty to keep those pages turning!

That’s a Wrap!

All right, so that was it for my week. How did yours go? Did you do well on your writing and reading projects? Anything interesting you’d like to share?

Do you have any great recommendations in TV, movies, or books? Feel free to share in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by everyone, and Happy Sunday!

    • Oh yay! I’m glad you liked it. I thought it was a pretty solid watch. 🙂

Thank you! I’m almost done with work for the day thank goodness.

  1. I managed to finish 2 books this week both of which I finished late last night/early this morning because I was participating in a 24 hour readathon. I haven’t been watching anything lately except for youtube. What is your Instagram handle I will give you a follow over there.
