WWW Wednesday

Happy Hump Day Everyone,

We’re halfway there! If you’re feeling like I am, you are definitely ready for this weekend. Come on, Friday, get here already!

In the meantime, let’s talk more about books!

Every Wednesday I participate in a meme called WWW Wednesday.

This meme is a challenge where you simply share what you’re reading, what you’ve recently finished, and what you hope to read in the near future.

www

The meme is currently handled by Taking On A World of Words, and anybody can participate.

Simply read the 3 W questions below and answer them should you want to:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Cassie’s losing her mind. But she’s gaining the mind of another. Aldrea — daughter of Seerow, Andalite Prince. Aldrea’s persona, her memory, and a valuable bit of information now belong to Cassie.

Opinion so far:

I haven’t started this one yet, but the plot does sound vaguely familiar. I guess I’ll find out!

Stay tuned for my upcoming review. I’m sure it’ll only be a day or two like usual.

As oracles, they should have seen where their tastes would lead.

The oracles of Osteria have always expected an offering in exchange for a Seeing. The Grey Sisters are no different and thrive on trading predictions for presents.

Of course, the best presents are of the flesh, and soon they start convincing their clients that, while a little spilled blood might produce a mediocre Seeing, a slice of muscle would guarantee a spot-on Seeing.

As the sisters’ tale of gluttony ranges from humorous to horrifying, their cravings — and their waistlines — grow. When one meal escapes and the sisters’ tastes are discovered, the people of Osteria demand an extreme punishment.

Luckily, the Grey Sisters have one more trick up their sleeves.

Full of sniping humor, mythological world-building, and a few recipes you shouldn’t try at home, this re-imagining of the Graeae Sisters from Greek mythology is a rollicking and quick escape into a new world.

My Opinion:

This short story was a great escape from the world on my lunch break. Set in Painter’s world of Osteria, I found this to be extremely entertaining. I loved the dark humor of the main character, and I blazed through this in no time. I’ve definitely got to read more works by Tammie Painter!

Opinion so far:

Coming up I have a bunch of buddy reads. That’s right, your boy Jonny now has three reading buddies, and he’s not accepting any more for fear of overdoing it! I’ll be reading Animorphs and short stories between these buddy reads but wanted to focus on these since I’m really excited about them. (Don’t worry, I plan on reading the fifth Murderbot sometime in July)

First up is Dark Lover. I’ll be reading this with Misty’s Book Space, and after my poor pick of a buddy read last time I wanted to hear more on what she wanted to read. We decided on this book because it’s dark fiction (a fave of mine) but also has elements of romance in it that Misty loves. I can’t wait to delve into this!

After that is Dead Voices. I’ll be reading this with Iseult Murphy, and after the first book in the Small Spaces series, we’re excited to continue!

Last but certainly not least is my buddy ready with Gigi at The Beachy Reader. She loves creepy stuff just as much as I do, so when we went down our list of potential reads, I just knew we had to try this out! The only issue I’m currently having is that my library is currently closed due to COVID and this book wasn’t delivered before they shut down. I’m seriously hoping they open up asap. If not, I can get this on a free trial of Scribd and do that.

Wish me luck everyone!

That’s a Wrap!

Okay folks, that’s my WWW Wednesday for this week.
