Wow, it’s already Wednesday! Can you believe it? Fingers crossed this work week passes without a hitch. I need another weekend with lots of reading and writing time! Anywho, back to the post!

Opinion so far:
I’m just over halfway through this novel, and I’m having fun! I will say that I wish there was a bit more character progression, but the action in this book is really great! Hoping to finish this sometime tomorrow or Friday if I get held up on things.

Opinion:
This was my first Brandon Sanderson read (it’s about time!), and I had a great time! All the characters had personality and felt real, and the plot was a winner too!
Glad I read this with my reading buddy Gigi (you can check out our rant here)!
I highly recommend checking this out whether you’re new to Sanderson or not.
Book Review: Skyward

First off, I just wanna say that my TBR is shaping up a bit ahead of schedule, which I’m really grateful for. I didn’t think I would catch up on my immediate list this quickly, so I’ve got some serious thinking to do soon!
Next up on my TBR is 7 Weeks in Hell, Iseult Murphy’s follow up to 7 Days in Hell, which I thought was fabulous. Excited to dig in!
After that, I’m involved in an ARC for Tammie Painter’s The Undead Mr. Tenpenny, the first in the Cassie Black series. Having read the majority of Painter’s other works, I’ve gotta say I’m really stoked about this! I know she’s put a ton of hard work into making this an exceptional series.
Last on the immediate list is Starsight, the second in the Skyward series by Brandon Sanderson. I really enjoyed the first Skyward book (my review’s right here), and since my new habit for the year is to try and finish all series as consecutively as possible, I’m putting this before other reads that are beckoning me. There’s a third book in this series coming out this year, but at least I’ll be caught up once I get through this one.

The Undead Mr. Tenpenny is such a cool title. I am reading Wings & Fire, a short story horror collection . . . so far, as in almost all anthologies, there are some stories I love and some that didn’t click with me.
Right? It sounds quirky and yet… dangerous. Oh cool! Yeah, that’s the hard thing about anthologies. I’m gonna try to read more anthologies this year. It’s a great way to discover new authors.
My friend let me borrow a George rr martin anthology but I have no idea when I’m gonna get around to it. So many great books out there!

I do think it’d be nice to read something different. Maybe a funny nonfiction or something.
If you like a bit of science, read Mary Roach. Her book Stiff is pretty funny for being about dead people.

I haven’t read any of the books you e mentioned but I have heard of the Sanderson books.
I am currently in the middle of reading 4 books. A Map for Wrecked Girls by Jessica Taylor, Baby Doll by Hollie Overton and A Quick Bite by Lynsay Sands all of which I hope to finish this week. I’ve also started Rainbow Valley by LM Montgomery. And I still have 3 other books on my TBR for January!!

I sure hope I can keep this up. So far I’ve only finished 4 though because I have so many ongoing.
I’m on the fence about whether or not I want to read Sanderson.

I’ll admit, I was really nervous. Some people told me Skyward isn’t his best and to try Mistborn, so if you like more of a fantasy feel that may be worth checking out.

I’m worried about the fantasy aspect. I like some fantasy but I think high fantasy wouldn’t be my thing. Like if it’s to much to comprehend and keep up with I don’t want to read it lol.
Oh I hear you there. I’m wary of high fantasy myself. I’ll have to let you know once I try one of his out.
My first Sanderson was The Way of Kings and it really blew my mind. Hope your next Sanderson will continue to be epic! 😀
