WWW Wednesday

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

I hope you’re having a great week. I’m okay I guess, but am counting down the days to my long weekend thanks to Presidents Day for some much needed reading and writing. Anyways, on to the post!

Every Wednesday I participate in a meme called WWW Wednesday.

This meme is a challenge where you simply share what you’re reading, what you’ve recently finished, and what you hope to read in the near future.

www

The meme is currently handled by Taking On A World of Words, and anybody can participate.

Simply read the 3 W questions below and answer them should you want to:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

All her life, Spensa has dreamed of becoming a pilot. Of proving she’s a hero like her father. She made it to the sky, but the truths she learned about her father were crushing.

Spensa is sure there’s more to the story. And she’s sure that whatever happened to her father in his starship could happen to her. When she made it outside the protective shell of her planet, she heard the stars–and it was terrifying. Everything Spensa has been taught about her world is a lie.

But Spensa also discovered a few other things about herself–and she’ll travel to the end of the galaxy to save humankind if she needs to.

Opinion so far:

So far this has been a really fun journey like the first book, especially the universe building and fleshing out of Spensa’s abilities and what potential there may be. I’m right at 55% of the way through, so I’m hoping to finish this either Friday or Saturday, most likely Saturday.

Work at a funeral home can be mundane. Until you start accidentally bringing the dead back to life.

Cassie Black works at a funeral home. She’s used to all manner of dead bodies. What she’s not used to is them waking up. Which they seem to be doing on a disturbingly regular basis lately.

Just when Cassie believes she has the problem under control, the recently-deceased Busby Tenpenny insists he’s been murdered and claims Cassie might be responsible thanks to a wicked brand of magic she’s been exposed to. The only way for Cassie to get her life back to normal is to tame her magic and uncover Mr. Tenpenny’s true killer.

Simple right? Of course not. Because while Cassie works on getting her newly-acquired magic sorted, she’s blowing up kitchens, angering an entire magical community, and discovering her past is more closely tied to Busby Tenpenny than she could have ever imagined.

Opinion:

This was a fun, magic-filled journey full of adventure and quirks. I loved the journey Cassie embarks on, and I can’t wait to read on soon! Definitely give this one a try!

Next on my TBR:

Opinion so far:

Up next on my TBR is Liars and Thieves by D. Wallace Peach. I’m super excited about this one, especially with all the great word of mouth I heard from our interview. I’ve been reading a decent amount of scifi lately, so it’s time I get into a great fantasy series. Let the magic commence!

After that I’ll be doing a buddy read of Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. I bumped this one up because I told my reading buddy Gigi that I wanted to tackle this one mid to late February and this month is flying by already. I actually rented this from the library over a year ago, but couldn’t find the time to read it. Here’s hoping it’s as great as everyone says it is!

Last on my list is Frank by Ece Gurler. I didn’t want to bump this one back, but I’m still determined to give this one a go. Hopefully I’ll get it done before the end of this month, but who knows with these things.

Wish me luck on my reading journey to other worlds, and I hope the same for you!

That’s a Wrap!

Okay folks, that’s my WWW Wednesday for this week.

What does your reading pile look like? Have you read any of the books on my list? Do you have any opinions or feedback on the books I chose? Feel free to share in the comments, and don’t forget to subscribe or follow my bookish journeys!

  1. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Liars and Thieves. It’ll be cool to see what you think of it. I am in the middle of a biography about Shirley Jackson. It’s longgggg, so I’ll be reading it awhile.:-)

    • Thanks, I’m pretty excited about it. 🙂

Ooo I bet that’s really interesting! I need to think of some nonfiction to read myself. I was thinking Bossypants, something with humor.

  2. I’m hoping to finally read Sorcery of Thorns sometime this year. I actually own the book so I have no excuses. The Dark Tower is ongoing for me. I will be reading it pretty much all month. I just finished Rilla of Ingleside and I’m trying to decide what book to pick up next. I might have to make my husband pick for me because I am so indecisive lol.

    • Oh cool! I hope we both enjoy it. 🙂

Is the last book pretty big? I bet it is.

Haha I feel ya. Outside my immediate tbr I have a hard time deciding things.

      • I hope we do as well.

Yeas it’s a big one. Over 1000 pages.

I’m going to be reading both of the books I couldn’t decide in this month but I couldn’t pick which one to start next so my husband did. I’m going to be reading Little Black Dresses, Little White Lies by Laura Stampler.

      • Big books are intimidating but I don’t mind them so much so long as I am really into them. This one is just ok.

Yeah sometimes I make him pick books for me. He’s not a reader so that’s as involved as he’s going to get.

      • That makes sense. I just get really nervous about the time commitment. If I can’t finish a book in about a week or so I’m probably not gonna bother with it. Though I’m sure an exception will cross my way one of these days.

That sounds perfect! He can just point to the one he thinks looks coolest. Dang, maybe I should have my cat pick out my books next time I’m stuck on decisions. That’s as close as I have to a husband lol.

      • I could probably finish it quicker but I’m reading it with a group on Instagram and we read a little bit each week and then discuss. Because this one was so long it was spread over the entire month.

I have seen people on YouTube picking out several books and then putting treats on them for their cats to pick. What ever treat they eat first is the book that’s chosen.

      • Oh okay, that makes sense how you are going about it. Hope you have fun and it doesnt drag!

Oh, that’s a great idea! I usually just show him covers and the one he looks at most I’ll read.
