Hello Readers!
I have some exciting news to share! It’s been a minute since I’ve posted an update on things, so I’ll throw in some personal items too. Hope you’re ready!
Writing
The alpha read for my paranormal short story The BEK Curse has been completed. Thanks so much to everyone involved in the process. They really made this good story into a great one, and I’m super proud of the finished product. I’ve submitted this story to a magazine for consideration. Hooray! The publication I sent it to doesn’t allow simultaneous submissions, so I’ll have to wait it out and see what they think. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Naturally, this brings up the question of what’s next. At this point I have a large number of short story ideas to choose from, but I’ve kind of narrowed it down to two that I’m most interested in pursuing.
One is a cosmic horror that I’ve already started plotting, and the other is centered on an Irish wake and is an imagining of what horrible things might happen if all the mirrors aren’t covered in a house. I’ve done more work on the cosmic horror so far, and the overall idea is coming to me a bit easier at the moment, but that certainly hasn’t stopped the universe from throwing wrenches in my plans in the past.
I’ll keep you all posted as I move forward, and best of luck to all you authors out there as well!

Personal Stuff
On the personal side, there’s been some developments. I’m all healed up from my surgery and recently started exercising again. I also may start volunteering soon at a local library after months of searching in my area (I’ve basically been banging my head against a wall). It’s super important I do this because there’s no such thing as an entry-level librarian position. You’ve got to have experience in a library setting going in.
Grad school is going well, and I’m managing it with work and chiseling out time every week for writing.
Last but not least, I’m planning on getting another kitty after my annual performance review at work in July. My cat Ajax is fine on his own, but sometimes I feel like he needs a little brother to get him to be more active. It’s more for Ajax than for me, and I think it’s the right thing to do.
