Hello Everyone!
With my grad school semester finally over (and my birthday being today!), I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to give an update on all things Jonny. I’ll try to stay succinct, but this may get a little long-winded. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Are you ready? Let’s go!
Personal Stuff
Grad School
I survived another grad school semester (librarianship), yay! I still don’t have my final grades for one class, but I already know I’ve easily maintained my honor roll status. I’m taking the summer off because this semester really took a toll and I want to relax.
I had a major breakthrough this semester and discovered what I want to do in regards to my librarianship. Turns out, it’s not far from what I already do here on this blog. I’ll be taking electives aimed towards readers’ advisory, marketing, and merchandising and hope to provide these types of services in my future role as a public librarian.
I’m Moving!
Yep, after two years of having my own apartment in North Kansas City, I’m moving even further north in about 3 weeks. A close friend of mine didn’t want to stay in the house he owns, so I’ll be renting it along with a roommate. It’s very spacious, the location is secluded, and the community is so quiet. I think we’ll be some of the youngest tenants there, and I’ll also be saving lots of money.
It’s My Birthday!
It’s my birthday! I’m getting sooo old, but to celebrate I’ll be kicking it with my KC A-listers at a local board game club this weekend, then possibly hit up a bar afterwards.
If you’re feeling generous on my special day, tell a friend about an indie author they aren’t aware of. That would make me so happy!
Writing
I Published a New Short Story!
I recently came out with a new short story The BEK Curse! If you love paranormal stories and suspense, you’ll love this one! To check it out, simply click here or click the image below. Check out my other works too if you haven’t had the chance!
My Current WIP The Ruins
I’m a go getter, so naturally the second I was done with The BEK Curse, I started working on the unfinished rough draft of my LGBT horror novel The Ruins. I’ve spoken about this work before, but in a nutshell, it’s centered in South America where a travel vlogger and his boyfriend uncover an ancient evil.
I’ve been writing every day for the past week or two and am currently on Chapter 7 of sprucing up what I’d written before. I’m really liking what I’m seeing so far! I reached Chapter 14 the first time around, so once I hit that mark things will slow down drastically, but I’m confident I’ll figure things out from there and have a first draft finished sometime this summer.
I’ve been logging my progress on my Facebook Author page, so if you’d like to keep up on a more frequent basis, you can check that out here. Keep your fingers crossed I can turn this baby around in record time! I’m hoping to have this baby polished up and ready for publication sometime this year.
Reading
Too many books as always!
I was hoping to fly free and also catch up on my TBR, but it seems I’ve already bitten off a bit more than I could chew.
I have a buddy read and ARC to read, then on top of that some other books came in with my library at the exact same time, so I’m going to have to put them back so I can finish out my immediate TBR. Gotta keep things as relaxed as possible. Hopefully sometime in June I will be able to read some of the birthday book haul picks of mine.
What do you plan on reading this summer?
That’s a Wrap!
Well, that’s it for this catch up session. How are your WIPs going? What reads are you excited about? Tell me all about it in the comments, folks!
