What Do You Do After Publishing A Book?
You’ve published your book, had your launch party, and are on cloud nine. So what’s next?
It may be fairly obvious to others, but now is the time to both keep writing as well as get the word out about your first book. I’ve made several posts with suggestions before I was published about reaching out to others to expand your reach.
Things like interviews, guest spots on blogs, reaching out for reviews, all of these things are important to spread the word. If you have already reached out and haven’t heard back in a considerable amount of time, reach out again to clarify. Don’t be pushy. Double back on these items and see if you can get your name out there as much as possible. Heck, do more research. There’s always something you could have missed on your first go around.
As far as writing, what other projects did you have going on? Is there a sequel to your first novel? If so, now’s the time to start writing again! As I like to say, you’re only as good as your next finished project. People get really excited about a book coming out, but shortly after that they are wondering what is next for you.
Personally, I started plotting and writing the second book to my debut novella a few weeks before publishing my first one. I like to stay on top of things as much as I can, and I don’t want to make my readers wait too long before coming out with another book.
What’s your experience been with publishing? Do you move on to your next project quickly, or do you take a moment before starting a new project? Feel free to share below! Have a great day everyone!
