Weekly Progress Update!

Hi Everybody,

What a week! As always, there’s been a lot going on in my life, but overall things are really moving forward.

On a personal level, my stress has remained at a low enough level to where I’m still not getting sick from it. I’m really happy about that. I also went to a fun pool party yesterday, so I got to relax some. Other than that, it’s been same-o same-o.

All right, let’s get started!

Books

On the reading side of things, I finished Animorphs #9, The Secret and The Power Within.

This was a great reading week. I really enjoyed both of my experiences, and I can’t wait to get started on the next book on my TBR!

TV/Movies

Again, this week I didn’t really finish anything new to me. I think I’m going through a phase where there are so many options I just end up watching reruns. This week its been Schitt’s Creek and Charmed (the old one of course), and I’m thinking of rewatching Charmed from the beginning and posting reviews on that.

I’m sure my weird phase will pass, but for now don’t expect too much. šŸ™

My Writing (Camp Nano)

On the writing side of things, I’m making some really great progress! I also made a realization with the goals I set for myself with Camp Nano.

So right now I’m at just half of my Camp Nano goal with 20 out of 40 hours for the month.

You may be very pleased to know that I finished plotting my first draft of the second act of Reaper! There are still plenty of plot holes and many things I need to flesh out, but technically I reached the end of the second act, which was one of my goals for Nano.

On the polishing of my first act, I am still on Chapter 6 out of 8 with edits. I’ve been spending most of my time this week on the plotting of the second act, so this week I’ll focus a bit more on edits than plotting.

All right, so my realization with Camp Nano. Camp Nano has a number of ways to measure your goals: word count, pages, minutes, hours. My issue is that they are all metric. I know I signed up for 40 hours, but I had a very specific goal in mind, to polish my first act and plot the second act.

I set the hour metric to push myself to do it, but since I’m nearly done with my goals I don’t really think it necessary to stress myself out trying to reach the 40 hours when that’s not truly my goal. Does that make any sense? I hope so.

Maybe in the future Nano will allow you to actually type out what your goal is, but if I get done with my edits, I’m counting this Nano as a win regardless of how many hours I work on it.

My Other Published Work

Writing rants aside, I’m excited for the end of July because I’ve got a blog tour coming for my debut novella Reaper in August.
