Movie Review – Halloween I & II
Hey Horror Lovers,
Every Halloween I make a point to watch all the new horror I can get my hands on, but there are always those movies that stick with me over the years, movies that you simply have to watch when the nights get longer and the chills stick around, creeping slowly down your back.
For me, those movies are Halloween I & II
I’m going to assume that everyone here is familiar with this movie franchise, so I won’t really explain the premise, but I really enjoyed re watching these movies this year.
Movie Blurb:
Halloween I
Fifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again.
Halloween II
While Sheriff Brackett and Dr. Loomis hunt for Michael Myers, a traumatized Laurie is rushed to hospital, and the serial killer is not far behind her.
My Review:
Halloween parts one and two are great slasher thrillers. Over the decades its become one of the most popular horror franchises, and for good reason.
For starters, the character of Laurie Strode is fascinating. She is strong-willed, resilient, and most of all, brave. These traits, luck, and much more allow her to contend with the notorious Michael Myers in a smarter, cleverer way than Michael’s 70’s and 80’s campy victims.
The thrills of these movies don’t disappoint either. Stalking scenes where Michael hunts down his victims can be quick and dicey, or long, slow, and torturous. The constant switch in pacing keep things interesting and watchers on the edge of their seats.
Last and most obvious is the amazing entertainment value. I mean, we love Laurie. She’s the underdog, and watching these movies is addictive. I’ve probably watched these two at least 20 or 30 times each, and I never get tired of the gripping plot, the chilling murders, or the thrilling chases.
It’s probably not a surprise that my rating for these movies is a perfect 10/10.

I’ve seen most of the Halloween series many times over. I don’t know why but I’ve never been a huge fan of the sequel – it’s ok and it’s a solid sequel, just never really made it among my faves. I love the original, of course.
Fair point. I just liked that the second one took off from the first and it was like one huge movie.
Oh, and I loved the H20 one too!
