Book Review: Colombian Betrayal
Hey Guys!
How’s it hanging? Well I hope!
Since I don’t have quite the update for WWW Wednesday, I wanted to do something else, and magically, something manifested right in front of me!
You know that book I was beta reading for my friend? Well guess what? It’s already out! How crazy is that?!
This post is all about my review of Colombian Betrayal by Randall Krzak (Amazon Link here).
Fun fact, I’ve read pretty much everything that Randy has come out with to-date, and he’s actually one of my scribe tribe. I always know that I can turn to him and ask for his honest opinion if something’s bugging me.
All right, enough chitchat, let’s get into it, shall we?
Blurb:
Colombian Betrayal tears the cover off the drug trade and exposes the death, and violence behind the twisted connections between governments, revolutionaries, terrorists, and drug lords.
Watch as an unholy alliance is formed when the profits of a Columbian drug lord Olivia Moreno, begin disappearing and deadly new international competitors appear on the horizon.
Moreno, head of the Barranquilla Cartel, strikes a deal with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Little does she know she is signing her own death warrant! FARC has a group wanting a foothold in South America—the Islamic State, and she is in the way.
On the run, Moreno is captured by a CIA team. She spins a tale to use her money and manpower to destroy ISIS in an effort to save herself. Laws and rules of engagement are meaningless to Moreno, her life and her family are her only concern. Will the CIA leader fall for her offer?
Will team leader AJ Bruce strike a deal to turn the tables on Islamic State? Can she stop them from launching an attack on the United States? Or will she be too late?
Is it worth trading control of Afghanistan’s poppy fields with Moreno as a reward for her cooperation? Or is Bruce playing her in an attempt to double-cross her and kill two birds with one stone?

The Review:
I gave this crime thriller four and a half riveting stars!
Okay, so I’ll be honest, crime thrillers aren’t usually my go-to genre for reading, but when I hear that Randall Krzak has come out with a new book, I always make a point to give it a read. I definitely wasn’t disappointed with this read!
Throughout this book we follow the life of Colombian drug lord Olivia Moreno. She runs a cartel and has recently lost close family members that were running the cartel. She’s had to learn quickly to keep her and her family alive. But when she’s forced to make a deal with a local FARC commander named Dias, will she find that the deal she made is more than she can bargain for?
This book was great!
First off, the characters really shined through for me. My favorite POV’s were those of the Moreno family. I mean, Olivia is a badass. She’s cut throat, vengeful and not afraid to do anything to protect her family. I mean anything. Olivia’s interactions with her son Alonzo, twin daughters, and husband Pedro were wonderful and had those pages turning anytime one of their chapters came up.
The plot as expected had a lot of surprising sudden twists that I didn’t see coming with lots of great action scenes. Just when I thought I knew where something was headed, bam! Plot twist. Gotta love it.
I’ll confess that I did like the romance elements in this novel. Don’t worry, they weren’t main plot drivers, but I enjoyed the tender moments between certain characters. Maybe there’s hope for this anti-romance reader after all.
If I had to nitpick at anything, I would say that I didn’t connect quite as much with the other POV’s outside the Moreno family, but it was still stellar writing that had me enthralled the whole time.
Ultimately, Colombian Betrayal is a cut-throat crime thriller full of adrenaline-pumping excitement, danger, and deadly double crosses.
Definitely worth a read!
That’s a Wrap!
Thanks for stopping by, and happy reading!
