WWW Wednesday

Good Morning Everyone!

How’s your week going?

Mine’s a little hectic, but I’m on cloud nine today because I put in my notice at work! I’m confident that my next position will be greener pastures and a growing opportunity in my career. Plus, I’ll still get to be remote, so I can work from the comfort of home, hooray!

Anywho, back to the post at hand. Books!

Every Wednesday I participate in a meme called WWW Wednesday.

This meme is a challenge where you simply share what you’re reading, what you’ve recently finished, and what you hope to read in the near future.

www

The meme is currently handled by Taking On A World of Words, and anybody can participate.

Simply read the 3 W questions below and answer them should you want to:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

A magical island. A dangerous task. A burning secret.

Linus Baker leads a quiet, solitary life. At forty, he lives in a tiny house with a devious cat and his old records. As a Case Worker at the Department in Charge Of Magical Youth, he spends his days overseeing the well-being of children in government-sanctioned orphanages.

When Linus is unexpectedly summoned by Extremely Upper Management he’s given a curious and highly classified assignment: travel to Marsyas Island Orphanage, where six dangerous children reside: a gnome, a sprite, a wyvern, an unidentifiable green blob, a were-Pomeranian, and the Antichrist. Linus must set aside his fears and determine whether or not they’re likely to bring about the end of days.

But the children aren’t the only secret the island keeps. Their caretaker is the charming and enigmatic Arthur Parnassus, who will do anything to keep his wards safe. As Arthur and Linus grow closer, long-held secrets are exposed, and Linus must make a choice: destroy a home or watch the world burn.

An enchanting story, masterfully told, The House in the Cerulean Sea is about the profound experience of discovering an unlikely family in an unexpected place—and realizing that family is yours.

Opinion so far:

I’m just under three quarters of the way through, and I’m having a lot of fun!

There isn’t as much action as I thought there might be, but this is turning out to be a great heartwarming supernatural tale of acceptance and belonging.

Definitely happy I picked this book up.

Stay tuned for my review!

The only purebred vampire left on the planet and the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who killed his parents centuries ago. But when his most trusted fighter is killed—orphaning a half-breed daughter unaware of her heritage or her fate—Wrath must put down his dagger and usher the beautiful female into another world.

Racked by a restlessness in her body that wasn’t there before, Beth Randall is helpless against the dangerously sexy man who comes to her at night with shadows in his eyes. His tales of the Brotherhood and blood frighten her. Yet his touch ignites a dawning new hunger—one that threatens to consume them both…

Opinion so far:

This was an interesting buddy read for me with Misty’s Book Space. I loved the vampire elements and the system they had going, but at times I felt that the romance/lust took too much precedence. Overall, this was a fun read, and I look forward to continuing the series sometime.

Next on my TBR:

Opinion so far:

Next up will be my buddy read of Dead Voices with Iseult Murphy. I sure hope there aren’t too many scarecrows in this one, Iseult!

After that I’ll be taking a very brief departure back to Animorphs. Apparently Marco is a poodle now? Hmm, not sure how to react to that. I guess we’ll see!

Following that will be my buddy read of The Bone Garden with Gigi aka The Beachy Reader. I’m sure this one will be spine-tingling!

Last but certainly not least is my read of Network Effect (Murderbot, AHHHH!). I’ve been putting this off a bit, but I think I’m ready for it now.

Overall, I’m super excited about my future reads and that I’m managing to balance three buddy reads. So lucky to have such great reading friends!

Wish us luck on our reading journeys together!

That’s a Wrap!
