Series Review: The Umbrella Academy, Season Two (Netflix)

Series Blurb:

In season two, the storyline sees Five return from the future to find his brothers and sisters scattered and estranged. It’s up to him to reunite the family, find out what they’ve been up to, prevent another near-certain apocalypse and dodge the agents of The Division (blurb via Radio Times).

My Review:

Characters

Our beloved superpowered characters continue their journey, each with their own intriguing progression arcs and battles.

Plot

The Umbrella Academy must once again prevent total annihilation of Earth, and every minute of it was exhilarating!

Flow

From scene to scene this season was captivating, though they could’ve lightened up on the chit chat during certain time crunch scenarios.

Overall Impression

For many, this past weekend was all about one thing. Umbrella Academy! I was no different from the status quo. Having loved the first season, I dove right in, watching almost half of this season in a Netflix party, the rest on my own. The results? An amazing continuation of a gritty, superpowered series!

We continue from where season one left off. Five transported his brothers and sisters in time with unforeseen consequences, and he and the others must pick up the pieces in a strange new place and time.

I loved every minute of this season.

The plot was similar to last time, but so much different. Our characters are stranded in time, and with the end of the world approaching, they have to once again team up to stop it from happening. There was tons of action and mystery elements that kept my eyes glued to the screen.

The characters like last time were great, and each of them had a lot of wonderful progression along this journey. My favorite had to be Vanya this time around.

From scene to scene things flowed pretty much effortlessly, though in time crunches there tended to be a lot of in-fighting and drama, which just delayed them even further. Besides that, I don’t really have any other complaints. Oh wait, yeah I do. Diego’s hair. Just … no. Haha!

This was a great continuation of the series, and I can’t wait until the next one comes out! Definitely watch this, people!

Final Score

9/10

  1. I looooved this, thought it was fantastic. I also didn’t see most of season one and somehow wasn’t confused much at all so I guess that’s something as a positive for the writing haha. 🙂

    • Me too! Glad I’m not the only one and that you weren’t too confused since you didnt see all of season one.

Yeah, I think they really thought this one through. Job well done!
