Graphic Novel Review: Wynd Vol. 3: The Throne in the Sky
Hello, hello readers!
Hope you’re having a good weekend. I went to an Incubus concert with the bf last night and had a phenomenal time. Naturally I’m running a little late today, so let’s get right into this post. I read another book!
This time I read Wynd Vol. 3: The Throne in the Sky by James Tynion & Michael Dialynas.
Since reading the first two volumes of this series I’ve been hooked! It takes a lot for me to autobuy a book when it comes out, and this is one of those. Desperately hoping lightning would strike a third time for this series, I dove right in when this came in the mail. On to the review!

Return to Esseriel in the darkest chapter to date of Wynd, perfect for newcomers and longtime fans of Eisner Award-Winning writer James Tynion IV!
The land of Esseriel is a darker and more dangerous place than ever, as tensions between the Human and Faerie realms build to the brink of war. Could Wynd be the only hope for peace? Danger, betrayal, and even some romance confront our heroes at every turn, while elsewhere, the Duke makes murderous plans of his own. Things seem dire, but help from an unexpected figure might just be the lifeline Wynd and Merien need… even though the final battle draws near. The Eisner and GLAAD-nominated Wynd saga continues in this epic new volume from Eisner Award-winning writer James Tynion IV (Batman, Something is Killing the Children) and artist Michael Dialynas (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), the GLAAD Award-winning creative team behind The Woods.

The Review
I’m totally floored by how consistently awesome this series has been. This volume is no exception.
In a nutshell, Wynd, Oakley, and company continue to flee from their aggressors in a desperate attempt to get to the safety of Northport. And man, what a journey this was!
Each page of this volume was nonstop fantasy action. Wynd and company’s options continue to get more and more limited as their enemies relentlessly pursue them. I loved the fast pace and occasional slower moments for the characters to connect on a deeper level.
As always, the characters were great. I’m really enjoying the continued level of romance between Wynd and Thorn. It’s so cute, and I can’t wait for things to develop even more between them. The other characters were great too, but I think they are kind of plateauing for the moment, at least until they reach Northport or find a more permanent peace, if that’s even possible.
As always, the art was beautiful and mesmerizing. You just have to take a break every once in a while and admire how great this artwork is.
I loved how things ended in this graphic novel, and I’m even more invested to find out how things are going to end up in this epic battle for survival. Definitely worth a read!
That’s A Wrap!
Well that’s it for this book review. I hope you enjoyed it!
