It’s Time For Another Writer’s Retreat!

Hello Readers!

Now that Halloween is over, it’s the perfect time to announce that I’ll be going on a writer’s retreat soon! I’ve been slacking on taking these trips the past year, so it’s time to catch up and get some progress on my WIPs.

Here’s some more info about where I’m going and what my goals are if you’re curious:

When

I will be gone November 14-17, so I won’t be making any blog posts that entire week other than those already prescheduled. There’s a local author showcase that I want to attend on the afternoon of the 18th back in KC, so I’m hoping to make it so I can network with other dark fiction authors. What a busy week!

Where

On those days I’ll be staying in the Table Rock area. I chose this area because it’s off season and much more affordable. Also, I’ve been to this area before and really enjoyed the scenery. I almost always prefer to travel in the colder months. It’s just who I am. I got a stellar rate on a cabin during this time and couldn’t be more excited!

Goals

On to the good stuff! My goal here is a lofty one, but I want to really challenge myself here.  I want to finish the first draft of my LGBT/Horror/Fantasy WIP The Ruins. As of right now I’m still editing chapters I’ve already written but I’m on the last full chapter before I catch up to myself and will have to write the remaining chapters.

If I don’t meet this goal I won’t be super mad at myself, but I’m definitely wanting to wrap up this project’s first draft by end of year so I can refine in early 2024 and start applying to publishers.

Wish Me Luck!

Well, that’s all I know for now. I plan on secluding myself however much I need to maximize writing time, and I hope this works out to my favor. Wish me luck!

How about you? Do you have any writer’s retreats or trips planned for the fall/winter season? Feel free to share in the comments!
