My Favorite Book Series From Childhood

QOTD: What books resonated with you as a kid?

I grew up in Texas in the 90s, and Hank the Cowdog was a great start for me as a reader. I loved all the crazy shenanigans.

Goosebumps introduced me to spookier works, which or may not have led to me watching horror movies behind my parents’ backs lol.

Eventually I moved on to Animorphs, a series I reread in its entirety a few years ago. It’s such an epic story!

All of these books helped me develop my tastes as a young reader, and I can’t wait to hear what your faves were as a kid!

Have a great bookish day!

  1. Unfortunately I hated reading when I was a kid so I don’t have a favorite childhood series. I didn’t really get into reading until I was in college.

    • I totally get that. Honestly I think part of it was my parents pushing me on it and the reading programs in elementary school really helped. Those were the times of reading for free pizza and stuff like that.

      • I know I read books when I was younger but I think most of them were for school and I don’t remember any of them now.

      • Oh I gotcha. Yeah, idk what was wrong with my schools but any assigned reading was awful for the most part. I’ve seen others post the iconic books they got to read in school and I was so jealous.

      • Honestly the only book I remember having to read for school was The Lovely Bones and it’s one I picked myself from a list but I don’t remember anything about it aside from the main thing. I know there was other required reading but I couldn’t tell you what they were. The first book I actually remember reading was the Twilight books. Those are the books that got me into reading when I was in college.

      • Oh, cool! The Lovely Bones was fun. OMG yes, I fell deep into the Twilight stuff around when I was in college too

      • I remember watching the first movie when it came out and went to Walmart that night and bought all 4 books and proceeded to read all of them in a week.

      • we are twinning so hard right now. I did the same thing lol
