Book Recommendation: Sovereign by April Daniels

*runs in frantically*

Oh my gosh, you guys!

I just finished the sequel to Dreadnought! I couldn’t wait to tell you about this, so I’m writing about it on my lunch break.

Holy cow do I have whiplash from that adventure! Alright, let’s not waste any more time.

I gave this book five supervillain-crushing stars!

After reading the first novel in this series just a short time ago, I was amped to read this one, and it. Did. Not. Disappoint!

After the defeat of Utopia, Danielle continues her life of crime-fighting, protecting the city of New Port all on her own. Only, she can’t keep doing this. The city is huge, and there’s just too much to handle. She needs help, and the only remaining members of the Legion are either out-0f-service or a total you-know-what (*cough* Graywytch).

But that all falls into the background when a new supervillain is on the rise, and he’s got change on the mind. Change that could throw the world into a black-caped dictatorship of epic proportions.

Can Danielle put an end to this new villain’s plans, or is she just fighting a pointless battle?

I truly love this book, I can’t say that with enough emphasis. Daniels’s writing style is just as packed with cleverness and wit as before, and I couldn’t get enough. I also loved how all of the characters progressed through this novel.

Danielle learns how to control her anger, accept the unfairness of the world, but most of all to love. Also, she’s really funny and had me busting out at work. Doc and Calamity are still wonderful characters, more fleshed out this time as well. The new characters introduced were great and original as well. I have no idea how Daniels thought this all up, but she’s a genius I say, a genius!

By the way, did you think you knew plot turns from the first book? Well get ready for some sucker punches, because they’re coming.

Even to the last few pages, I was on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t believe the ending!

Ultimately, this book had it all. The chills, the thrills, the drama, the battles. I couldn’t be happier, and I can’t wait to read the third one when it comes out!

Give this one a chance, peeps. You won’t be sorry you did.

Happy Reading Everyone!
