Movie Review: It Stains The Sands Red (Shudder)

Hi Everyone,

Hope you’re feeling festive today, because I’ve got another great movie recommendation for all your horror aficionados out there!

The concept of zombies is one that we’re all too familiar with at this point.

Zombies have been in the realm of cinema for plenty of decades, and it’s rare when we watch a zombie movie that stands apart, even a little.

It Stains the Sands Red is one of those movies, and was well worth the time I spent watching it.

Movie Blurb:

In the throes of a zombie apocalypse, a troubled woman from Las Vegas with a dark past finds herself stranded in the desert with a lone and ravenous zombie on her tail.

My Review:

Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Based on the blurb, this movie sounds a little boring, right?

Wrong!

We’re so used to seeing hordes and armies of zombies that it’s easy to forget just how threatening a single one can be.

That’s where this movie finds its strength.

We follow Molly, a troubled woman, as she ventures through the desert of Las Vegas to an airfield to get away from the zombie epidemic.

Her ‘boyfriend’ and her were driving along when she felt sick and yelled at him to pull over. Turns out, not a good idea!

Pretty quickly the boyfriend and her are stuck inside their car as this zombie terrorizes them.

Can they make it to the airfield in time, or are they doomed to be stranded in this dangerous wasteland?

This movie was great! Plenty of chills, thrills, and surprisingly, heart.

I think the biggest pro for this movie was the main character Molly. There’s a lot of character progression that occurs in this movie that we don’t usually see in a zombie flick.

It was really refreshing, and I could tell that a lot of thought went into this character.

I also found the interaction between the main character and the zombie following her to be very interesting. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’m not really going to punctuate more on it. But I will say there’s more to it than you think.

Lastly, I simply had a great time watching this. The quality of production was great, and I was glued to my couch as I watched this. Beginning to end, I really enjoyed this, and there wasn’t too much gore compared to other zombie movies I’ve seen.

Wrap-up

Ultimately, It Stains the Sands Red was an original, well-executed zombie flick that will give you the chills and thrills you so desperately need this time of year, and then some! I definitely recommend this movie to all my fellow horror-heads!
