Weekly Progress Update!

Happy Sunday Funday Everyone!

How was your week and weekend? Good I hope!

This week has been another mixed bag for me personally. Work is still quite a bit dissatisfying, but there have been some developments that I’m excited to talk about once I hear back and can officially say something.

Other than that, I’m surviving, so I guess I can’t really complain haha!

Books

On the bookish side of things this week, I FINALLY finished reading Dark Places by Gillian Flynn.

Unfortunately, I didn’t end up liking it as much as I hoped. I just finished reading this last night, so if you’d like to see my review, you can check it out here.

I’ve already started to read Sarah by Teri Polen this morning, so that’ll be my next book review, hopefully in a few days since it’s nice and short.

TV/Movies

On the watching side of things, this week I enjoyed Halloween I & II, as well as AHS: Apocalypse.

All of these were great experiences, and I’m really getting into the spirit of Halloween.

My Writing

On the writing side of things, things have been progressing. Last week I said I wanted to complete 2,000 words, but I actually fell a little short on that this week at 1,600 words.

I’m allowing myself forgiveness due to the work-related developments this week that took away from my writing time.

I’m going to continue to push forward, and I think for my typical weeks I will try to write 2,000 words. I think it’s a healthy expectation to have, and its an attainable goal.

Speaking of which, fellow writers, how much do you write in a typical week?

This is by no means an attempt to shame anyone who writes less than I do (I know how hard it can be with writer’s block) on a constant basis, but I’m curious.

Feel free to comment!

That’s a Wrap!

All right, so that was it for my week, and I hope yours went well too. Did you do well on your writing and reading projects? Anything interesting you’d like to share?

Do you have any great recommendations in TV, movies, or books? Feel free to share in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by everyone, and Happy Sunday!

  1. I saw a good Netflix movie this week, The Lodgers. It’s Gothic horror if you like that kind of stuff. Dear Husband and I saw The Perfection which was really good. Just when we thought we had it figured out, there was a twist. Just when we thought we had THAT figured out, there was another twist!

I hesitate to say how much I write in a week because I wrote more last year, BUT IT WAS CRAP, about 1000 per day. I’m slower this year, but I think my writing has improved. I’d like to aim for 5k per week of better quality stuff. Maybe some day I’ll get there!

    • Ooo that sounds interesting! I’ll have to check that out for sure.

I think in general I write ab ok ut the same as I did last year, but the real difference is feeling the inspiration. I started out really inspired with the first act of my sequel and now things feel a little more strained.

Hey, I think you’re doing great! Those are some great numbers!

  2. Every time I see the cover for Dark Places I think it’s another book. I couldn’t remember what book it was reminding me of but I knew the author of the book and looked it up. It reminds me of Justice for Belle by Didi Oviatt. The covers a very similar.
