Movie Review – In The Tall Grass (Netflix)

Hi Everybody,

How’s it hanging? Hope everything’s going well.

This post is all about my review of In The Tall Grass, a Netflix original movie.

Fun fact, I came across this movie on a lazy Saturday when I was eating pretty much a whole freaking pizza to myself. That’s what weekends are for, right?

Well anywho, I was vegging hardcore when I saw this movie was available. It seemed intriguing enough, so I gave it a shot.

So what did I think? Let’s get right into it!

Movie Blurb:

When siblings Becky and Cal hear the cries of a young boy lost within a field of tall grass, they venture in to rescue him, only to become ensnared themselves by a sinister force that quickly disorients and separates them. Cut off from the world and unable to escape the field’s tightening grip, they soon discover that the only thing worse than getting lost is being found.

My Review:

Man, this movie was such a delight! Going in blind, I was pretty skeptical, but this really turned out to be a wonderful, well thought out movie.

The main characters Becky and Cal are driving to Cali for Becky to give away her child that she’s pregnant with. They stop on the side of the road when she is feeling a little sick when they hear a child crying out for help in a field of tall grass.

They go in to help the kid, only to realize that things are not quite what they seem and they can’t seem to find their way out. Can Becky and Cal figure out what’s going on, or will they be stuck in here forever?

I really liked the characters in this film. Becky is relateable with her situation, and I’ve met several Cal types in my life. The other characters introduced were interesting as well.

I also really liked the vibe of this movie. It started out feeling like a thriller, maybe even slasher, but then transitioned into something truly horrific and exciting, deeper than I expected.

This film had me guessing what was really going on the entire time, which had me on the edge of my seat. Though not everything was explained as much as I would’ve liked, it was so entertaining, gritty, and had plenty of thrills.

I ended up giving this movie a 8.5/10. Definitely something I could see myself watching another time or two.

  1. Have you read the book? I read the book and then watched the movie. I enjoyed both but I like how the movie elaborated on things and added other things. I will say I was left confused after finishing both of them.

    • Nope, unfortunately I have not. It’s on my tbr though!

Yeah, there were some questions unanswered but I think in this case it still really worked. Glad you liked this!
