Weekly Progress Update!

Happy Sunday Everyone!

How did your week end up? Good I hope!

Today’s quite the big day for me. In just a few hours, I head out to my Branson writer’s retreat slash vacation. So before I go I wanted to share my week with you. I won’t be posting while in Branson (five days), so things will be a little quiet on my end just so you know.

I’ve been waiting for today all week, so I can’t wait to start my journey!

All right, let’s get into all the great things from this week!

Books

On the bookish side of things, this week I had a major reading boom!

I read two books, The Andalite Chronicles and Tunnel of Bones, while starting my read of Station Eleven.

I absolutely adored The Andalite Chronicles. Such a great backstory for the Animorphs series! For my review, click here.

The same can be said for Tunnel of Bones, which was a great continuation for the Cassidy Blake series. Talk about an obsession! To check out my review, click here.

Station Eleven is going along pretty well (I’m about a third done so far). The one drawback I have for this book is that it’s more character-driven rather than plot-driven, which has proven to be something of an annoyance for me. But don’t worry, I’m going to see this through! The writing really is well done.

On top of the books I read, I also read two short stories, The Ballad of Bonnie Rotten and The Farm, both by Sean K. Vlk.

I think my favorite of the two short stories was The Farm, but both were really great!

Looking forward to more great reads from my TBR!

TV/Movies

On the watching side of things, I watched the first season of Channel Zero.

channel zero

Man oh man was this first season scary! A return home fraught with chills, thrills, and kills, cartoon shows will never be the same! Definitely worth a watch!

Happy watching!

My Writing

On the writing side of things, this week was all about prepping for my writer’s retreat. I really wanted to make sure that I was ready to hit the ground running.

So I finished my Chapter 16’s writing and then focused on plotting out as much as possible. I was only able to plot out the next two and a half chapters to the point where I can blaze through, but I’ll have a lot of downtime on my vacation, so I think that’s totally fine.

I hope (emphasis on hope) that I’ll be able to write maybe three chapters while I’m gone in Branson, so cross your fingers for me and wish me luck!

That’s a Wrap!

All right, so that was it for my week. How did yours go? Did you do well on your writing and reading projects? Anything interesting you’d like to share?

Do you have any great recommendations in TV, movies, or books? Feel free to share in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by everyone, and Happy Sunday!
