Movie Review – Friendsgiving

Movie Blurb:

Molly and Abbey, along with their crew of close friends and acquaintances, host a dysfunctional, comical and chaotic Thanksgiving dinner.

My Review:

With COVID still in full effect, I haven’t been the most social. Luckily, I’ve still been able to have one-on-one’s with good friends. My friend Katie and I watched this movie in anticipation of Thanksgiving, and it was a lot of fun!

In a nutshell, a mom on the verge of divorce plans to have a humble Thanksgiving with a couple of friends, but when the word gets out about her little party, craziness ensues as her house fills up.

So many things just worked for this movie. I think foremost was the cast. There were a slew of great, funny comedians included in this movie. After seeing the cast list and the trailer, I had to watch this.

The plot was super simple but great. I think we’ve all had some Thanksgiving shenanigans in our lives, but this movie takes it to a whole other level. I enjoyed all the crazy hijinks. Most of them did involve sex, drugs, or alcohol (as a warning), but with all the great comedians and actors involved each scene was hilarious. I especially loved the lesbian characters and their spiels (can we all introduce ourselves that way please?). Although the main plot was a bit loose overall, I think the emphasis for the movie was on the comedy, and that made it great to me.

Ultimately, this movie was a big hit for me and my friend Katie, and I highly recommend it if you want a simple but funny Thanksgiving-themed movie. Happy watching!

Final Score

8.5/10
