Library Title Picks – August 2022

Welcome to another edition of library title picks!

In a nutshell, my library lets me choose up to 3 titles for them to purchase each month. I love doing this as a way to support my fellow authors and tend to gravitate towards horror and indie authors.

Alright, here are this month’s picks:

The Altered by Maria DeVivo – Maria is a fellow author also published by Solstice Publishing, so naturally I had to see what this zombie/post apocalyptic book was all about! (3 books in the series)

The Reyes Incident by Briana Morgan – From my interactions with Briana on Instagram I’ve become a big fan. I recently picked up her book for free during a promotion, but figured other readers needed a chance to get their hands on her work as well.

Below by Laurel Hightower – I don’t know Laurel, but this horror novella has long been on my TBR, so it’s high time I give it a go!

Please feel free to peruse the links and blurbs below for these books and consider having your library add them to their collection or buying a copy for yourself. Happy book hunting!

***Brief disclosure***

I am an Amazon affiliate and earn a tiny commission for purchases made through the Amazon links in this post at no cost to you. It’s a great way to help me keep things running on my blog if you’re already intrigued enough to make a purchase.

Blurb:

Griffin King is an ordinary high school senior dealing with typical teenage issues – a bratty little sister, overbearing parents, an obnoxious best friend, and the unrequited love of his long-time crush. But when a virus suddenly infects a large portion of the population, Griffin soon finds himself on the opposite side of the proverbial horror story.

After months of roaming the broken landscape of the city as an infected person, a cure is found and a mass injection of antiserum is administered to the diseased, causing Griffin to become one of the ALTERED, a small group of ‘ex-infecteds’ who have been cured, but changed. Now he must learn how to start his life anew – suppressing his need to consume human flesh, and living among an angry post-apocalyptic society where race, gender, and religion don’t matter anymore. Welcome to the new world. A world where people like him – people altered like him – are the minority.

A local legend gone haywire.

A small-town cop.

An impossible eyewitness testimony.

Which is easier to believe—that killer mermaids exist, or that one person is worth risking everything for?

For fans of THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO and INTO THE DROWNING DEEP comes a chilling horror story steeped in urban rumor.

HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO TO HELP A STRANGER?

While driving through the mountains of West Virginia during a late-night snowstorm, a recently divorced woman experiences bizarre electrical problems, leaving her with little choice but to place her trust with a charismatic truck driver. But when an unexplainable creature with haunting red eyes gets between them, she is forced to make one of the toughest decisions of her life. Will she abandon the stranger who kept her safe—or will she climb down below, where reality has shapeshifted into a living nightmare?

    • Yay! That means I did good haha. I do want to read some more popular books this year like Stephen King’s Gwendy’s Button Box series, but indie works kind of rule my world right now.

Glad you’re thinking of giving The Altered a shot. Maria is such a kind and genuine person. 🙂
