Book Review: Return of the Perfect Girls (Replica #18)

Howdy Dowdy Readers!
I hope you’ve had a great week! For me it’s been nice to relax a little since grad school semester is over. I’ve also been monitoring the kitties when they get a little extra. It’s mainly growing pains, but the bf and I want to make sure that they really grow to love each other. Fingers crossed!
Anywho, it’s time for another book review!
This time I read Return of the Perfect Girls (Replica #18) by Marilyn Kaye.
I’ll be honest, I’m disappointed with this series right now. The past three books have felt lackluster, so there’s a lot riding on this one. Let’s see how it did!

Blurb
Palm trees swaying in the breeze. An azure sky. A sun-drenched beach. Crystal-clear water. Amy wants to believe the island is a tropical paradise–except she’s not there by choice, and the company she’s keeping doesn’t always inspire sisterly love. The other Amys are on the island. Andy and his “brothers” are nearby. And bad people want them to do bad deeds. Amy’s got to rally the rebellious clones–if they all want to end up as survivors.

The Review

A great installment, finally! I’ve been having mixed feelings about this series lately, but this was a much needed epic adventure.
In this novel, Amy receives an invitation to a day cruise on a boat with her new boyfriend Chris (I’m as surprised as you are, believe me!), but when she boards the boat and it embarks automatically, she knows something isn’t right. Within hours, Amy finds herself on an island with the other Amy’s, and all signs point to the organization being responsible. Can she and the other Amy’s team up to get off the island in one piece?
I was so glad that the Amy’s were together again. There’s this epic feel whenever the Amys team up, and it really gave me all the feels. Each Amy is very different, some more observant like #7, and some not. Our Amy #7 wants to protect her clones, and I loved how she kind of became this mama bear for most of them.
We also finally get confirmation about their first encounter together a bunch of books back, so I appreciated that.
This book was nonstop action and mystery, and I sped through the pages abnormally fast because of how interesting it was. We also get some more worldbuilding in terms of the organization and what they are capable of.
One thing I do want to bring up is that this novel had more of a dark undertone, and I actually think that the series needs more of this. Knowing what we know now from this book, things are getting deadly serious, so I’m hoping the silly antics of former books won’t continue as prominently as they did before.
I can’t wait to tear into the next book!
That’s A Wrap!
Well that’s it for this book review. I hope you enjoyed it!
Have you read this book? Are there other similar books you’ve read that you simply have to gush about? Feel free to leave a comment. I’d love to start a conversation!
Have a great day!
