Book Review: Ice Cold (Replica #10)

Hello Readers!

How was your Labor Day? Mine was very relaxing with lots of time for reading and meal prep. I even made my first attempt at Vietnamese spring rolls!’

Whatcha think?

Anyway, back to books! I’m continuing my binge of the Replica series with Ice Cold (Replica #10) by Marilyn Kaye.

I didn’t love the last two books, so I was desperately hoping this one would make up for that. Let’s see if it did. On to the review!

Blurb

Amy’s secret is out! Her worst enemy, Jeanine, knows that Amy is a clone. Now Amy fears the worst. She’s sure Jeanine will blab the truth to everyone–maybe even try to sell Amy’s story to some sleazy tabloid. But Jeanine never gets a chance to make good on any of her threats. An accident leaves her in a coma. Rumors of foul play spread like wildfire. The number one suspect . . . Amy.

Sure, Amy wanted to stop Jeanine’s big mouth, but maybe she wasn’t the only one. . . .

The Review

The last few books in the series have been a little disappointing, but this one was a total home run!

This time in Amy’s chaotic life, her secret is out! Her arch-nemesis Jeanine somehow knows her true identity. With the future of the world at stake, Amy tries to find a way to stop Jeanine from exposing her, discovering many dark secrets along the way.

Mystery, thrills, action, this book had it all. Not far into the book, something happens to a character that sparks something of a whodunit mystery for Amy. This is amped up when all signs keep pointing back to her, creating a serious race to find out the truth. Things even got a little violent in certain scenes, which I actually enjoyed because there wasn’t a wholesome way out of the predicament like usual. I liked seeing that side of Amy.

The characters as usual were great. Jeanine really took the spotlight in this one, and if you hated her before just wait until you read this one. This girl is evil! Amy is continuously backed into a corner with all of these accusations, and some of her relationships are put to the test. It added a nice amount of drama throughout.

I can’t say much about the conclusion of this book, but I can say that it’s a pretty big climax that is really entertaining and a little darker than usual. This is an installment I won’t forget anytime soon.
