Weekly Progress Update!
Good Morning Booksters and Fellow Writers,
Happy Sunday Funday! I hope you’ve had a great week and weekend.
Personally, I couldn’t wait for this weekend to come. My week was a little chaotic as we had some changes at work that may entail me getting a bunch of OT in the near future, so I’m trying to ready myself for the storm that is coming.
I feel like this week dragged by and then the weekend swung by so quickly that I’m pretty disappointed, but that’s the thing with weekends I guess. Anywho, let’s get into the swing of things!
Books
On the bookish side of things, I finished reading City Of Ghosts and started reading The Siren and the Specter.
City of Ghosts was phenomenal, and I am definitely looking forward to reading the second installment soon. If you’d like to check out my review, click here.
I’m about three quarters in with The Siren and the Specter, and while I’m enjoying the story, I kind of wish it was one of those books you can blaze through. It simply isn’t one of those books for me. There’s nothing wrong with that, I was just hoping to get through it a tad quicker. This book is super creepy and mysterious, so keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming review this next week.
TV/Movies
On the watching side of things, I watched Into The Tall Grass and Shazam.
Both of these movies were truly great.
In The Tall Grass started off with a slasher vibe, but then it turned out to be so much more than that. I absolutely loved it!

Shazam was a refreshing superhero movie. I feel like it broke the mold with DC’s superhero movies, and it had a lot of great things going for it. This is also worth a binge watch if you have some time.

My Writing
On the writing side of things, I had another great week, but I want to start providing more stats on my progress, so here goes!
Overall Progress
Overall for the Reaper Sequel WIP I’m working on I have 39,477 words written total. That’s around 158 pages, and I’m currently smack dab in the middle of my second act.
Once I get through the entirety of this book, I will need to go back and flesh things out more, so I have a feeling this will end up being around 60k-70k words or so (if not more), or around 250-280 pages. Guess what that means? This will be a full fledged novel! While I kind of already knew this would happen, it’s nice that it is rolling out the way I planned it.
This Week’s Progress
All right, so I have a weekly writing goal of 2,000 words, or eight pages.
I’m happy to say that this week I wrote 2,952 words! That’s just about twelve pages, peeps!
I wrote the majority of my Chapter 13 and got started on Chapter 14. I feel that I’m doing really well letting myself just write things out without giving it too much thought, and that really has helped me push things forward.
That being said, after Chapter 14, I really need to slow down and take a look at my plot. I don’t want to slow things down, but things really aren’t as fleshed out between here and the end of my second act, so I’ll need to make some important decisions.
Reaper Halloween
Speaking of my writing, Halloween is coming up, and it’s the perfect time to check out my debut novella Reaper.
Blurb:
Gregory and his little sister Imogen love spending Halloween with their parents. But this year is different. If he proves he can take care of Imogen all by himself, he’ll finally have the allowance he’s dreamed of.
That was before the basement door opened on its own. Before the strange door appeared in the basement and Imogen was taken from him by the monster.
Now everyone in town is blaming him for her disappearance, but no one is listening to his story. Where did the door come from? What was that creature? And most of all, can he find his sister before it’s too late, or will he bury his memories of her along with his parents?
Should you be interested, feel free to check it out on GoodReads or Amazon. It’s great for some light chills and thrills to get you in the spirit of Halloween. Just keep your night lights on.
That’s a Wrap!
All right, so that was it for my week. How did yours go? Did you do well on your writing and reading projects? Anything interesting you’d like to share?
Do you have any great recommendations in TV, movies, or books? Feel free to share in the comments!
Thanks for stopping by everyone, and Happy Sunday!

Congrats on all that you accomplished this week! I’ve often said work weeks should run on a 4 on/4 off schedule- imagine how much more we could get done!
Thanks! I really did my best and I feel proud of my progress. 🙂
I totally agree or better yet, how about no work? Haha!
Lol, did you buy a lottery ticket? 🙂
Lol not yet. I’m more of a scratcher guy, but I know you can win a ton on those too!
