Weekly Progress Update!
Happy Sunday World!
How was your week? I hope you’ve all had a wonderful productive week and are ready for the new week ahead.
My week was a mixed bag. We’re in the middle of our year end at work, and stress and tension are at an all-time high, but I know that this will pass. I did put in quite a lot of OT by my standards, but as long as I can make it through this month, I’ll be okay.
I’m moving mid-May, so that’s what I’m really looking forward to. I’ll be on my own for the first time in about a decade or so, and I really think it’s needed. That being said, I do hope that things return to normal soon because being alone AND being isolated is a bit much.
Anyways, let’s see what I’ve been up to this week!
Books
This week was pretty great with books. I finished a short story and two books this week.
Dark Crossings was a nice sci-fi departure of a short story with a good amount of mystery until the thrilling end.
My Animorphs read was pretty good. Although the plot fell a bit flat in the end, the buildup, humor, and writing were stellar.
Thornhill… Oh my goodness was this book phenomenal! What a sad, intriguing book. Definitely going on my favorites list, and I had fun doing this as a buddy read with Iseult Murphy.
TV/Movies
This week in movies I reviewed The Girl with All the Gifts.
Overall, this was a great zombie dystopian movie that switched things up a bit. There was plenty of action and grit to keep me thirsting for more, more, more! Definitely worth a watch, especially since it’s now on Netflix.

My Writing
Writing has been coming along swimmingly this week. I managed to edit through chapters four, five, and six of my Reaper sequel, which is pretty good if you ask me. There are nine total chapters in the first act, so I’m about 66% through that section.
Before I move forward today, I do want to read over chapter six once more. I typically go through each chapter twice, the first time really hitting those edits, then the second to make sure everything is nice and smooth like butter. Once I get through the entirety of the first act, I will also do one more readthrough before signing off on it being alpha read worthy (though I’m clearly going to wait until the whole thing is ready).
I will say that I am catching a bit more small inconsistencies than I thought I would, so that is slowing me down a bit, but this is part of the game and I’m totally fine with it. Super happy with my progress!
In the meantime, I’ve got a special announcement to make.
My debut novella Reaper is coming up on its first birthday next Sunday on 4/19/20!
To celebrate my Reaperversary, the digital version of my book will be free on Amazon on 4/19/20, so if you haven’t read a copy yet, be sure to get one free here on that date.
That’s a Wrap!
All right, so that was it for my week. How did yours go? Did you do well on your writing and reading projects? Anything interesting you’d like to share?
Do you have any great recommendations in TV, movies, or books? Feel free to share in the comments!
Thanks for stopping by everyone, and Happy Sunday!

Hang in there! Hopefully everything will be fine. I will be checking out ‘The Girl with All the Gifts’ tonight. Late night + Zombies = Good idea. Wish you a great week ahead! 😀
Yeah, it’s mainly getting out of the house that I need to do more. Sunlight is good for you haha!
I hope you like the movie! I love me some zombies!
Thanks, you too!
😄 Yup! We all need some sun!
Yeah, I’m super white as it is, oi! Every time I go outside lately I’m like “was the sun always this bright?”
Hahahaha! 😆
Happy Easter, Jonny! Congrats on a great week. I’m particularly excited about all the editing you got done. I’ll spread the word about Reaper on the 19th. 😊
Thanks Iseult!
Yeah, I’ve been keeping at it, though I think I could push a bit harder.
Thank you! I can send you link information if you’d like but it’s up to you.
Yes please!
Awesome! I’ll be reaching out to friends soon and will include all the info. 🙂
Happy Easter! Good to hear your writing is going “swimmingly.” The middle of May is just a month away. (And now, apparently, I’m a poet!)
Thanks, happy Easter to you too!
Yeah, it’s going. I just got done with my re-read of Chapter Six and found a LOT of stuff to fix, but am now ready to move on.
These little inconsistencies sure like to hide in between the lines, pesky little things!
Haha rhyme time, I love it!
