Book Review: Cold Snap (Frostbite #2)

Hey there fellow book addicts,
Are you ready for summer? I’m not! Unless I’m in a pool with margarita in hand, I’m not having a good time. In my defiance of warmer weather, today I’m sharing my review of Cold Snap (Frostbite #2) by Angela Sylvaine.
I loved the first book (review link below if you’re catching up!), and my boyfriend got me a copy for my birthday, how sweet!

Let’s see how this sequel went!

Blurb
The highly anticipated sequel to FROST BITE!
WORMS GONE WILD! It’s 1998, and the town of Demise, North Dakota, is recovering from the Meteor Murders, hundreds of deaths caused by alien worms but blamed on a mass poisoning by a doomsday cult. While nineteen-year-old Realene’s heroic actions saved the lives of many, she wants nothing more than to hide from the world and mourn the ones she couldn’t save. When a second half of the meteor is found north of the border where her best friend Nate is on a spring break trip, she’ll have to face her fears and venture into Canada to find him. The only thing standing in her way are rampant alien worms, a covert military op, and the cold snap of the century.

The Review

Holy smokes, this was a phenomenal sequel!
After the Meteor Murders, Realene and Nate just want to put the horrors of what happened behind them. Nate and his new girlfriend Trish have decided to go on a spring break trip to Winnipeg, but when Realene discovers that another portion of the same meteor was found near that area, she finds herself on a collision course with another deadly situation.
What I love most about this story is that it has a little bit of everything: horrific parasitic worms, lots of action scenes, some really great comedy, and a whole lotta heartache in between. This reading journey was so well rounded that it was very hard to put down, and I’m definitely a forever fan of Sylvaine after this.
There was so much great character progression here. Realene and Nate are coming to terms with the loss of loved ones. Nate is moving on pretty quickly with his life, while Realene feels left behind. I also really loved the new characters introduced, especially Big Kev and Ana. Big Kev was a great dose of comedy relief amid all the scary shenanigans.
Chapter to chapter, this story moves fast. That’s totally my vibe, so I was hooked! Twists and turns, horror, mystery, and funny mishaps made each page memorable and nostalgic, and I’m just so thrilled that this book was such a home run. Highly, highly recommend this one!
That’s A Wrap!
