Weekly Progress Update!

Good Morning World!

How have you been? Well I hope.

This week has been tough on everyone, as the vast majority of people move to work remote. Others have lost their jobs or don’t know when they’ll return to work. My heart goes out to those people. This COVID19 pandemic is alarmingly frightful, and the world will feel the economic ripples caused by this situation for years to come.

If you can, please stay indoors and take good care of yourself. Even more, if you see someone in need, please help however you can. This is a pivotal moment in history where we can really show the value of human empathy and kindness.

I’ve been on my writer’s retreat in Hermann, but have mainly stayed inside just to be safe, as well as the fact that most of the city is either shut down or very limited on what they will allow. I mean, that’s what this whole retreat was about anyways, wasn’t it? I’m not even mad about it.

So what have I been up to this week? Let’s see!

Books

Being that this is my Animorphs Readathon week, reading has hit a very high level in the past week. So far I’ve finished five books this week! (currently reading the sixth)

While it’s been a mixed bag as far as star ratings go, I am so happy I got the chance to make some serious progress in the series. Once I get closer to the end, I may choose to do another readathon to close out the series.

I started re-reading this series back early 2019, so I am eager to get this baby finished!

See below for my review from this week if you’re interested!

TV/Movies

This week hasn’t been crazy busy in watching things due to my writer’s retreat and the Animorphs readathon, but I have managed to switch things up with my review of the documentary Betty White: First Lady of Television.

bettywhite

No one loves Betty White more than I do (nope, it isn’t possible :p), and this was a great portrayal and lookback at her life to date and how she made such an influence in television, film, and simply as a good person.

I couldn’t recommend this one more!

My Writing

Sorry peeps, but I’m going to be a bit cryptic here since my retreat is still going on. I am working on the third act and still have some ways to go, but the amount I’ve been able to write in such a short time has been really inspiring to me.

I’ve been switching constantly between reading and writing, and that seems to make a huge difference.

Stay tuned, there will definitely be an update tomorrow or Tuesday (most likely Tuesday)!

That’s a Wrap!

All right, so that was it for my week. How did yours go? Did you do well on your writing and reading projects? Anything interesting you’d like to share?

Do you have any great recommendations in TV, movies, or books? Feel free to share in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by everyone, and Happy Sunday!

  1. Yay! Great week, Jonny. I’d lots of family birthdays to celebrate this week, so my writing and reading suffered, but I did see a horror movie called Ready or Not. Turned out it was a horror comedy. It had its faults but I enjoyed it immensely.

    • Thanks Iseult!

Oh yeah, social obligations can definitely interrupt the reading and writing process.

You know, I’ve heard of that movie but haven’t seen it yet. I’ll definitely have to check it out.

  2. Yay for great reading and writing progress on your retreat! This week I patched some plot holes in my WIP, but that means it was more back-tracking and rewriting, not word-count progress.

    • Thanks! I’m killing it! Even if I don’t manage to get the full chapter I need to write today (about a third in so far), I’ll still be very proud of myself.

I wouldn’t beat yourself up too bad about fixing plot holes. That’s extremely important and worth back-tracking for. Once I finish this rough draft I’m going to take a week and just think on things in general that I need to change for my first polished draft.

  3. My reading was slow for the majority of the week but I am participating in the 24in48 Readathon this weekend and that made my reading so much better. I was able to finish 3 books this week. First The Bromance Book Club, then I finished Nights in Rodanthe and Misadventures of a curvy girl.
