May In Hindsight: Bookish Conquests and Other Things
Happy Sunday and last day of the month people!
May has certainly been a whirlwind, hasn’t it?
For me it’s been a lot of big changes, but good ones. I moved mid May into my own place and also had a quarantine birthday. Things are quite a bit less chaotic now and I’ve gotta say I really enjoy living on my own. I feel so free.
Like usual, I like to reflect back on the month and take a look at all that’s happened. Despite all the big changes, I managed to keep pretty busy.
Writing Conquests
At the beginning of the month I got started on editing the second act of my Reaper sequel. I managed to get through almost four chapters until this week when I hit something of an impasse.
Luckily, I reached out to my great friend Iseult Murphy and she has been helping me figure things out. I think we have come to something of an agreement of how I can approach things from here on out, and it’s going to be a journey moving forward, but I know I can do this!
Also, I started working on a scifi short story of mine that I wrote in the past called Conscience. I’m still in the beginning phases of editing, but from the get go it’s been wonderful seeing how inspired I was when I originally wrote this and finding many ways to improve it.
I hope to have edits done in the next couple weeks, but I’ll allow myself until end of June to have things chiseled out a bit better before having an alpha/beta read.
Super excited about the future!
In the meantime, feel free to check out my debut novella Reaper if you’re looking for a good read.
Chills and thrills abound as Gregory tries to save his sister from the monster that took her in their basement. Can he figure it out before it’s too late?
Bookish Conquests
On the bookish side of things this month, things went pretty darn well!
I reviewed seven books, three novellas, and a short story.
Overall I enjoyed most of the works I reviewed with the exception of Voltage and Please Don’t Tell My Parents I’m a Supervillain.
I also received some new releases late in the month, so I’m very excited to dig into those and other interesting books this coming month!
If you’d like to check out my opinion on any of the works above, please see below for the links.

Movie & Series Conquests
On the watching side of things, I didn’t review too many but in general enjoyed most of my experiences, even branching out beyond my comfort zone a little bit.
Hands down, NOS4A2 was my favorite of the month, but the rest were pretty entertaining as well.

Darn that you ran into a speed bump on your sequel editing, but yay that Iseult was able to brainstorm with you and figure something out. Good luck as you move forward on it.
Yeah, I was a bit bummed at first but this is a good thing. From what we went through there will be more depth to the story, and that’s always a good thing.
Thanks Priscilla!
Great month, Jonny, and your book is incredible. Thank you for discussing it with me. 😊
Thanks friend! I hope you had a good month too.
I’m so appreciate for all of your help!
Hugs 😊
